I know it doesn't get the love football has, but I'm pretty excited for some college hoops. The Jayhawks could not be any more loaded, nor have any higher expectations. They are in town tonight, play Memphis at the Scottrade Center, and I am on my way to PreCalc. That sucks!

The first great post game press conference from last night, as Kentucky got away with a win over Miami (OH).

Hopefully some clips of Xavier Henry and company to come soon!

Damn, no clips of Kansas, as they barely escape the clutches of Memphis last night. It was a funky game, as the Jayhawks turned the ball over 21 times. Mr. Dependable, Cole Aldrich was steady as hell, though. Getting 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots in a 57-55 game was pretty impressive. But otherwise, the Jayhawks were pretty sloppy offensively.

Defensively, they held Memphis to just 34.5% from the field. that will win pretty much every game. This time, KU had to survive Memphis' last 3 point try as Memphis had 16 seconds to come down and make a play. But Memphis may be better than people think. It will be interesting to see how they fare down the road.

On the plus side, I got an A on my PreCalc test.

Ok, I may start breathing a little easier in regard to the Jayhawks potential. They have been winning, but it hasn't been easy, and it is an easy case to make that they no longer deserved the #1 ranking. So today, going to Philadelphia to take on an 18th ranked Temple team that has already beated Villanova this season I was concerened that KU might be exposed.

Turns out, things seem to have fallen in place, as Kansas ripped the Owls by 32 points on their home court. Next Sunday they get to take on #14 Tennessee as a final warm-up for the Big 12 and a monumental game at Texas Feb 8th.

Whoops, but at least the pressure of the #1 ranking is off. Now they can chase, might be easier for the young'uns

**Edit** #1 seems to be a curse. Go Wildcats

Turgeon has really done a nice job down at A&M. That makes me happy.

Still hopin' that the Hawks pull this one out. Great game so far.

Man, we totally fell apart somewhere around the 3 minute mark, and started chunking up low-percentage shots, and too early. Those weren't the shots that had us in the lead for most of the game, guys.

Still, a good game against the top team in the land. I look forward to the tournament.

Turgeon has been good, although it was Gillispie who transformed us into a perennial tournament competitor before he took off for Kentucky and self-destructed.

By the way, I think it's a little funny that Bobby Knight said that the crowd really doesn't affect the visiting team as much as it helps the home team; I once saw him call a time out and then spend the whole time yelling at the Aggie student section. True story!

Kansas has really finished well all season. But the game tonight really felt like it just came down to who happened have the lead when the clock expired.

I think A&M is poised to have a nice tourney run.

Interesting day for basketball. We led our arch-rival Texas the entire game, beating a higher ranked team.

Both #1 and #2 lost today; don't forget to eat, Jayhawker!

I hope that the Big 12 has a fabulous NCAA run, because we are either the first or second best conference for basketball. I'd go with first, but hey, I'm biased.

Boy did my Louisville Cardinals blow it in the Big East Tourney. This Jeckyll and Hyde season has been so disappointing after back-to-back elite 8 years. Who's going to show up next week? The Cards that beat Syracuse twice or the Cards that lost to Western Carolina back in Dec or embarrassed by St John's and Marquette the last couple weeks?

March is usually a happy time in the KY area, but this is insane. I have no idea how to go with my brackets next week.

Speaking of, anybody else usually fill out brackets on espn.com? Maybe a GWJ group Monday?

We usually have a GWJ group. I can't remember who normally sets it up.

Ags vs Jayhawks today at 6 Central! Beat The Hell Outta KU!

I have set us up on Yahoo in years past, but my work week is going to be very busy next week so I would not mind at all if someone else wanted to create a tourney league for us using Yahoo/ESPN or something else.

*Edit, I misremembered, I set up the 09 bracket, but Jayhawker set up the 08 bracket.

Winner of 09: oldmanscene24 http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/node/44032
Winner of 08: The Walt http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/node/38060

I think I set up some of the earlier years, but can't find the threads. If anyone wants to find em and post that years winner that would be great.

One thing is for sure, we need a bracket winner not from Texas this year!

I hate that good players only stay for a year now. Back in the '90s we could be consistently good because Pitino could build teams that would stay for at least 3 if not all 4 years. The times, they are a-changin'.

Bah! Louisville isn't a part of Kentucky and you know it. It's like its own little state over there in Jefferson county. If it wasn't for the Hot Brown, you'd have nothing. Nothing!!!

I'm in. Very happy with the way the UW has peaked at the right time. Of course, the PAC is waaay down this year, but they are playing good basketball at the right time.

I'll sign up with either. If Jayhawk wants a Yahoo group, I can do an ESPN one as well. It's not like I'm not filling out brackets both places anyway. Can probably just link the group IDs and passwords in here and whoever wants to join can join.
