Single Player RPG for Windows 7

Hello All, I am looking for a new Single Player RPG to play. Now running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit, AMD Athlon X2 7750 Dual-Core, 4 Gigs RAM, but kind of a lower end graphics card: GeForce 6150 SE, which is supposedly difficult/impossible to upgrade on my off-the-shelf system (HP Pavilion Slimline s5120f.)
Any suggestions? I like fantasy/medieval settings, hack-and-slash OK. Thanks very much, Paul.

From what I understand, your graphics card may not be enough to play Dragon Age.
Depends on what you prefer. If you're all about the action, you really can't go wrong with Torchlight. If you want something with a bit more story check The Witcher. It's on sale on Impulse.
Both are good choices for 20 bucks americanos.

Just so we know what games will it run well, so we've got a level to aim for.
In case you were thinking of upgrading at some point in the future - it is quite possible to get a decent graphics card (though maybe not the latest generation of them) in a low profile configuration.

You didn't really say which games you've played before so i'll suggest some older ones that your graphics card will have no problem with: Neverwinter Nights (1) and expansions.... Dungeon Siege (1 and 2).

I'll jump on the Torchlight bandwagon too. It's very hack-and-slash though.
If you prefer open-world games, check out Morrowind (or Oblivion, but no idea whether the graphics card would be up to it).
If you don't mind non-medieval settings, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is brilliant, and it's on sale for $5 this weekend.

Mount & Blade is a newer game, though indie and should be playable on your rig. I highly recommend it even though the graphics aren't great, the gameplay is absolutely addicting and there are a ton of mods out there for it with new scenarios (like the Lord of the Rings). There's a thread on this site about the game.

I agree on your point about Torchlight. The way i read the OP was that he was only OK with hack'n'slash but was more interested in RPGs..... Can't believe i forgot about Morrowind though :/

I'm gonna 4th or 5th (whatever) Torchlight. I can't stop playing for more than a few minutes.
Helpful hint: Normal is really easy. I'd start at another difficultly level but at dungeon level 32 so gonna finish up then move to something more challenging.
I think you're way overestimating the GeForce 6150 (integrated graphics), which is the bottleneck here. Morrowind will run on it. Oblivion? If you turn everything off and use the Oldblivion mod, you might coax it into playing OK. I wouldn't call that "running fine" though. This guy doesn't seem pleased with it.
Duoae's got the right idea, though. You can get at least a half-decent low profile PCI-E graphics card.

It's a great study on modern human motivations.

It's not fantasy or new, but System Shock 2 runs on Windows 7.

(Btw, Legion, he should be able to run Oblivion. He has the SE version and a better processor and more ram than the articles you linked. It may not be pretty, but it should run, especially since his processor is more powerful.)
He has a pretty decent processor and with 4 gigs of ram, that certainly helps when the video chip sucks away the memory. As Duoae points out he can upgrade to PCI-E cards that are low profile. We should probably encourage that first, dontcha think?
His computer is pretty decent except in the graphics department. It's not meant for gaming.
Still, if you don't want to upgrade, some older games like Fable should run. Fable for all its flaws is still a fun game and can be hand on the cheap. Good Old Games is your friend.

Honestly, I wouldn't know what to recommend other than something old school that would run on that video card. The bioware games are really what i'd aim for - baldur's gate 2 or knights of the old republic. Also, try the torchlight demo. After that, it's off to GOG.com

That's all well and good, but it doesn't matter because there's no way in hell it will run reasonably on the guy's system
And I'll echo all the people saying Torchlight. I'm running it on my own Laptop. The game has a checkbox in the settings for "Netbook Mode" which disables a lot of the visual features. Run it at a reasonable resolution an it should work great.
