The vid looks interesting and the games is only $17.99?? I may have to check this one out as well.
I just found out it's made by the same people that make the benchmarking software 3DMark.

Every time I see "shatter" in a game title, I think about punching stuff with metal hands.

I did a little more research on this and this game has some really interesting concepts. First, since there's no sound in space all the sound comes from your suit to help you with situational awareness. Here's another nice twist I just picked this off the Steam forums, it's from one of the devs:
If this works well they've effectively eliminated the problem of grenade spam!

That actually sounds pretty damn cool. I might have to check this out.

Futuremark? As in 3DMark? As in the benchmarking people? Strange.
The game sounds like the battle room stuff from Ender's Game.

Yes, yes, yes, and I don't know. They do know their graphics programming and I imagine they would attract the kind of talent that's also interested in making games.

So far, from what I've seen, you only have one gun. It's a rifle equipped with a grenade launcher. If you zoom, it becomes a sniper rifle, and you only have 3 kinds of non lethal grenades. And that's pretty much all the weapon variety you'll get.
Looks pretty, but sounds shallow. Maybe the maps are fantabulous.

I think it's a brilliant idea from a gameplay perspective. They've eliminated grenade spam and forced you to think tactically about how you use them. The ability to dislodge enemies from cover is going to be VERY fun. They may not give you 37 weapon types but it completely eliminates the imbalance issue that having shotguns, sniper rifles and saws. I hope it will emphasize player skill as opposed to who has what unlock.
I think what's going to make or break this game is how well the 3D combat works within the maps or world.

I totally agree. There is so much potential for combat tactics in a 3D environment. I was sold as soon as the trailer showed two people walking on the same platform with the soles of their feet pointing at the other (I don't even have the vocabulary to properly express the 3D movement... so awesome!)

Agreed. Excited to see a full zero-g environment and only one weapon, no need to think about item spawns or anything. Certainly looks good from the trailer, can't wait to try it.

Looks like this will be replacing MW2 for me, and its a third the cost! Sounds good to me. The zero-G is what will make or break it though. Too realistic and it won't be fun, too gamey and it won't be unique.

For $17.99 there's no way I can't buy this.

Miami, FLSeattle, WAI don't meet the minimum requirements.
The processor has to be a E6600 minimum but I have a E6420.

Is it bad that I don't even look at minimum requirements anymore? I think I might not actually meet them for this game, but I've already purchased it, so we'll see how it works.

I just caved and pre-ordered this. With L4D2 and Dragon Age both in November my gaming budget for the month was already shot, so I guess I'm stealing from December now. Hopefully nothing good comes out in December!
The last gameplay video they released just suckered me in when combined with the sub-$20 price tag. Now I just have to figure out how to play three different new games, there's going to have to be some kind of custody arrangement!

This seems like it might be an interesting game to try and get the Thursday night Battlefield crowd into. Although the specs are a bit brutal for some.

It looks pretty cool but I wish the guns were more projectile like similar to Tribes where you have to lead your target, etc.

Miami, FLSeattle, WAThe guy that did all the music for the game is in Poets of the Fall who also did the ending theme song for Max Payne 2, a lot of the FX for both MP 1 and 2 and all the stuff for FutureMark. He also did tracker mods like "Space Debris" during the Amiga days.

This looks super awesome. Like those old descent games that allowed you to flip over... and keep going. Couple times I felt like I was going to puke. This ups the vertigo factor considerable.
But my rig can't run it
. First time I've been locked out of a game that I can remember.
It is the first title I have seen that is DX10 only, for those still on XP.
Edit: Dragon Age is preloading. I now have a desire to acquire Pizza discount vouchers and fresh underwear.
On of the advantages of being old, I have a great job and LOTS of money!
I'll be rocking this on my i7 biotch

Ah, the first game to come across my radar that my PC can't handle. An ominous, and expensive, sign.

I'm also worried about my performance. If I can't run with max settings at 1920x1080 I'll be forced to buy another GPU! Or, you know, lower the settings. But thats lame.

You shouldn't be wasting your time playing video games anyway. You should be working 2, maybe 3 jobs and paying into my Social Security fund you whipper snapper.

These preview videos have sparked a debate at work. We've come to a consensus that a gun would fire in space just fine since the O2 is in the bullet but there's argument over if there would be a muzzle flash and if so what it would look like.
What do you guys think, normal muzzle flash, short but wide muzzle flash, or no flash at all?
SteamID: mrwynd Starcraft 2: mrwynd.954 Diablo 3: MrWynd#1658 How to record a video game
All of my space guns fire using magnetic rails. No muzzle flash at all.

It should work because you can fire a a gun underwater. I don't think there'd be any muzzle flash though due to lack of 02. The kick of a rifle would suck in space though!
No gravity and air also means no resistance or drop so your range would be nuts!
