Divine Divinity on GoG.com For $5.99

I don't usually go out of my way to pimp a GoG game in the forums, but Divine Divinity has finally been added to their library. $5.99 gets you the full manual and soundtrack too!

For those of you that don't know, Divine Divinity is a cross between Diablo, Ultima VII and ... Baldur's Gate? Anyways, it's awesome and holds up pretty well, I re-played a good chunk of it a few months ago.

Buy it and check it out next time you have a gaming lull.

Did you know that Divine Divinity on GOG.com supports higher resolutions than the original release? And it's Vista/XP compatible!

I'm considering picking it up even though I already own the disc.

The threat of compatibility issues have kept me from picking this up in the past. Glad to see it at GOG.

Any word on whether it works with Windows 7?

Any opinion on whether Beyond Divinity will be worth picking up once GoG has it?

Dammit. Now I'm going to be out another $6 soon.

Come on, GoG, where's my Wizardry Gold collection?!

I believe that almost everything that works in vista should work in windows 7.
I think.

Just read that as if his PC Avatar was saying it, and it makes it that much funnier. Being in IT, that's what I'd expect, but I've heard differing reports concerning drivers, not necessarily applications - they seem to be working fine.

Current playlist on the new PC looks like:

Dragon Age -> Torchlight -> Dragon Age second playthrough -> Witcher -> NWN2 -> Divine Divinity -> Dragon Age third playthrough

That list is both daunting and delightful.

I played it earlier this year on a Vista machine and it worked fine. The first single-core, XP machine I used had serious slowdown problems with all of the wooded areas for some reason.

I got enough fun out of it to recommend it at full price, so at $6 patched and DRM-free, it's a fantastic deal. Think Diablo, but leaning much more on the "RPG" side of Action-RPG than that game. Just be aware that the beginning of the game is probably the most difficult, particularly since you won't have a solid grasp on the mechanics yet.

Dammit games industry. Are you trying to kill me from lack of sleep. The prospect of another DD playthrough is simply too good to pass up.

Somewhat related: are there any actions we need to take, other than clicking and following the banner on the left, to ensure that GWJ gets credit for the sale?

I seem to recall it being said that as long as you sign up through the banner all future purchases give GWJ credit.

It's supposed to be out in a couple of weeks for $9.99.

Good to know. Thanks. I still need to finish Divine Divinity anyhow. I think I was within an hour or two from the end when I stopped playing.

Spoiler:
I maxed out the mechanical spiders (scorpions?) skill and became bored with being essentially invincible.

Edit for spoiler alert please!

I'm buying this game but hoping for zero foreknowledge.

Thanks, I was going to waste $10 as well.

Now I just need time to play this first one.
