Observe and Report

So I watched Observe and Report today and was wondering if anyone else had seen it. The movie was far more intense and dark than it looked from the cover or trailers. Having spent some time working in malls and knowing the people that work in them I found the movie to be a pretty accurate parody. The hot somewhat vapid girls working in the makeup areas, the creepy people with the lotions or sea salt, and the weird security guys. While it may not have been one of the greatest movies I have ever seen I think it did what it set out to do, which was present the dark underbelly of working in a mall.

I can respect what the movie was trying to do but I didn't really enjoy it that much. I understand its a dark comedy but for the most part it wasn't that funny.
I thought it was a good movie, there were parts that made me cringe:

It was an enjoyable movie for the time I spent watching it. No more, no less.

I saw it in theatres since I've got a Rogan hard-on. A Rog-on? A Seth Hard-an?
I really liked it, although I don't feel the need to buy the DVD. I'd probably watch it again if given the chance though. My girlfriend, unfortunately, did not like it as much. She felt it was too weird, which was part of the reason I liked it so much. It is weird in a way that's really hard to put your finger on, though.

I didn't expect it to be so dark. Well made but kind of depressing. It's really a story about a man who's dreams are crushed because he has severe bi-polar disorder.

I really liked it, largely for all the reasons objected to above. I find it refreshing when a movie isn't afraid to go were the story takes it. It was supposed to make people uncomfortable and it did. Such the anti-Blart. Awesome.

It was a sad story about a sad man told in the most uninteresting and unflattering possible way. It was sold as a comedy to get folks in the seats (Rogen fans), and it is probably one of the worst films I've ever seen. People accuse me of not "getting it", but I really did "get it". I know *exactly* what they were *trying* to do with it, it just didn't happen for me. I read the reviews ahead of time saying it was an unattractive film with no redeeming qualities. I thought "That may be for the old folks who don't get it, but not me!". I was wrong.
Horrible, horrible film. Bad story, bad acting, and there is not one character that you can identify with or cheer for. Everyone in this story is a giant ass, and you wind up hating everyone.
I'm still pissed I spent money on this crap.

Eh. I thought it was funny. Shocking at times, but that's one of comedy's jobs.

Fanatka, you are right that it is a sad story about a sad man told in an unflattering way, but I didn't think it was uninteresting. The characters were mostly unsympathetic, but I didn't think Ronnie was impossible to relate to. I think we have all wanted jobs we werent qualified for and have lusted after girls that were obviously wrong for us.
