DDO - Gamepad setup

Based on a friend's recommendation, I picked up a gamepad to play DDO with. However, he just had a catastrophic HD/MB failure (involved grinding and the letting out of the magic smoke) and he no longer remembers the various settings that he had for the various buttons. Not wishing to re-invent the wheel, does anyone here have a good setup?

My gamepad is similar to a 360 gamepad, 2 thumbsticks, D-pad, 2 bumpers, two triggers, however it has 6 buttons as opposed to 4.

Any suggestions?

I don't have a suggestion, I have a question. Why would you do that?

He said that it made the game a whole lot easier to play. "Almost to the point of cheating" were his exact words. I was walking through the local electronics store, and saw that they were selling gamepads for $15. A quick Google showed that the brand was decent, so I picked one up.

I am finding this hard to process. My arcane casters have a full 20 hotbars of stuff, or 200 buttons. Many of which are actively managed. Even my melee characters have 50-60 hotbuttons up. And from generally chatting with folks and looking at other people screenshots I know I'm not the exception, many melee players have all 200 buttons stacked up and ready to use.

Unless you are just moving and swinging your sword I can't imagine playing with a gamepad.

I am just going on what a friend who played it for a while mentioned. I have *never* played DDO at all, so was looking for advice...

Yeah I know Sorry it that sounded snarcky (or whatever the word I'm looking for is).

You can definitely move and swing and do some things with a gamepad. My concern is that you will still need to keyboard for many things as you level up so it might not be the "best" option for play.
