Also, while you can edit your playbook, substitutions, and audibles from the league page on Xbox Live, you are stuck with whatever uniform you choose, and all of your choices for the style of your generic players. So make sure you have what you want before signing-up. You can, before everyone signs up and DS turns the key, drop out, edit, and sign back up.

Yes, and PLEASE triple check to make sure you have the correct players on your team. I think it was last draft someone had the wrong player and they ended up having 2 of the same players on 2 different teams. The only way to fix it is to dump the league and start over.

He also made the statement that 2k doesn't care about the APF2k8 league websites because they have newer games out that are making money while apf2k8 didn't.

Um... apparently the defensive packages have only one ILB. I drafted two, not realizing I can't get both on the field at the same time. Is there some way to shift an ILB to an OLB? If not, can I swap my bronze ILB for something, anything else (even a kicker)?
Check out the playbook and grab some 3-4 defenses. Then use the 3-3 Nickel package instead of the regualr Nickel that just has 2 LB's.
To sub an ILB into the OLB slot, go into substitutions and select the generic LB you want to replace. Then use the triggers, which will show players at other positions, including OLB. I used this to sub William Perry into a couple of my goalline packages as a FB. You can substitute by package, or by specific formation. I also slid John Taylor in a TE in some formations.
Once the season starts, you can log into the league online, and select personnel. This will allow you to make all of the same moves, and they will be active for league games.
You should really check out the playbook, as there are a ton of plays to choose from, especially on offense. Even more, you can eliminate formations you don't want to use, and concentrate on the formations you want to include in your gameplan.

You can take a kicker if you wish, but the easiest thing to do is just to shift him to an OLB. It will require going through each package, but that's not the end of the world on Defense. We've talked about this in previous seasons. You can do things that seem reasonable. Things a coach would do if they had your team.
i.e. All WRs, HBs and DBs can return kicks, punts, etc. Linebackers can be shifted around. You can even toss a linebacker on defensive line in some packages or visa versa. Just do what seems reasonable. If your entire return team is your first team offense? Not so reasonable. Putting your TE at DE like he's going both ways in high school? No. Shifting a TE into the slot Tony Gonzalas-style in a package where there is no TE? I don't think that's wrong.
Sorry for the longer answer, but I wanted to clarify in case Farscry and others wondered about this. It's really just a common sense thing. Is it something that a team might reasonably do in real football? Bounce it off us if you don't know and we'll figure it out.

That actually was quite helpful, I didn't know that this was incorporated into 2k8 either, but I haven't really dug very deep into the customization options for teams. I do a lot of this in the MLB games, but I'm traditionally very casual with the football games.

Well, 2K did a crap job of explaining a ton of what they put into the game. There is a lot that you have to figure out by just exploring the menus.
I also wish 2K had produced some info on exactly how abilities work in this game. I'd love to know how Leadership works, and whether it is stackable, and who all it applies to.
I joined the league, but I can't remember how to get into the web site to save my life.
