Upgrade Complete

In order to play Upgrade Complete, you'll need to buy a few upgrades. I recommend you start with a menu screen. It's not cheap, but the freedom it provides more than makes up for the price. Plus, it enables even more satisfying upgrades, like menu buttons. From there, you can upgrade your way to full-on sidescrolling space combat, complete with a customizable warship.
Upgrade Everything is all about empowering the player to design and achieve the ultimate game experience. Want more missles? A faster engine? Better graphics and background music? They're all upgradable. Everything's upgradable. And let me tell you, there's no better feeling than earning the very best spaceship virtual money can buy--and then getting an achievement for doing so because you paid to upgrade your achievements.

wow. this is different. let's hope this doesn't give the major companies any ideas in how to expand the DLC-market.
about to try this out...

This was a lot of fun. I "beat it" and enjoyed it quite a bit.

The ending was worth it all.
"Alas, this Court's kingdom for a commercial airport! "
That was a hilarious look into the future.
I played it last week. What a great game.
I don't watch, I interact!
I loved it. It was tons of fun.

Finished it and it told me what I already knew deep down.

That was great. Took me a little while to to figure out how to upgrade the graphics.

I loved the twist they throw at you in the ending.
Great recommendation, thanks. One little glitch - somehow, 2 of my ship upgrades ended up on the "play" button, so I could not move or upgrade them without starting the game! I didn't notice for ages, and then worried that they would prevent me from getting 100%, but the weapons upgrades do not count to the progress total.

Hmmm, I wonder if it will get some DLC... Pretty addictive game.
EDIT: Just finished the game. Let me just say that the good ending is totally worth the money.
EDIT2: I played for 30 minutes more just to get all the achievements.

Haven't played it yet, but sounds like a parody, I can see something similar done with achievements.
In not so long we will see things like: Congratulations on your first achievement, "Installing the game". I can see some benefits on them but not as a substitute for real gaming contextual progress and personal achievement.

Loads of fun - a great way to spend the hours of my insomnia!
Bwahhahahahah!
As I understand it, Upgrade Complete is actually a sequel of sorts to Achievement Unlocked.

It does prevent you from getting over 100% though!
I just finished with a 108%.
I am the best winner ever!

I didn't find this anywhere near as funny as Achievement Unlocked, but it was still a fun distraction.

Wow, what a gaming experience. Parodius anyone?
Edit: The first graphics upgrade makes me mad at my sister for throwing away her Vectrex.
That was way fun!!! I had the same "bug" that if you just click to buy a weapon instead of click+drag the weapon goes over your play button.
I can't get the "Super Ship" achievment, guess that's why.
Reminds me of the Achievement Unlocked.

The credits page say it was inspired by Achievement Unlocked but it's not by the same guy.
I'd say there's already a natural sequel hinted in the ending
Also it's not really the point of the game but I found the ship building mechanic to be really cool. You could place the ship pieces strategically or just design a cool little ship. At the end I placed all my normal guns in the back so they could shoot at passing ships as long as possible and the lighting at the front to max out its range. I'd love to see a shmup that does more with this mechanic. Reminds me of the Cell stage in Spore.
This game reminds me why I love games with upgrades.
By the way, anyone know how to select a part without moving it, or how to rotate it (there are some guns at an angle on one of the "sample" ships).
NOTE: Not a doodle bug.

I'll be honest that while this was a cute game I found the (bad) ending to be a bit condescending and out-of-touch. Are there a lot of people that judge a game based on the complexity of its upgrade system? And thank you, but I'm an adult and can determine the quality of games on my own without being lectured to.

110% all achievements! SUCK IT!
Wait... did I miss the point?

I got 100%, which is required to get the mystery box, and didn't upgrade all of my weapons. The two that were stuck on the "play" box kept shooting throughout, from off the play screen - they were quite useful!

This game is great satire and while on the easy side, is very engaging. In a weird way, I feel like I've been duped. It should have caused me to get all meta- about the nature of gaming, but I ended up just having fun instead. Thanks Fly.

I just played through it for a 3rd time (I know, I know, I'm lame) but I managed to get 110% completion without actually beating the game (I maxed out my upgrades after completing wave 19). I wonder if you could get 100% completion without ever beating wave 1... might have to try that one.
Edit: Tried it out, no go. You get progress from getting some of the achievements, so I was stuck at 60 some percent.
