comic-con trailer:

Looks like Diablo spliced with Fallout 3. With 4 player Co-op? I'm coloured interested.
Comes out in October.
Life and death appeared to me ideal bounds, which I should first break through, and pour a torrent of light into our dark world.

Looks pretty good, but more along the lines of Diablo spliced w/ Halflife. Seems like there's less emphasis on skills/stats a la FO3.

Crazy, just yesterday I was thinking about making a catch all for this game.
It looks interesting but I'm hoping it won't be a grind fest, or hoping it a will be a fun grind fest.

I REALLY like the new art style for this game and it sounds like it's going to be the game Hellgate London *should* have been, so I'm very interested in seeing how this turns out.

I saw the preview for this on X-Play (yes, I watch X-Play) and I can't explain why I have little interest in it.
I like the idea of playing the game with 3 other players. I like the semi-cel shaded artwork. I like that you can create your own weapons. It's just that something seems "off" about the game and I can't quite put my finger on it.
I'm reserving final judgement til more information is released, though.

I saw the same preview and feel the same way. I think that was a bad demo. At least I hope so. They sat in one small area and there were lots of numbers flashing. It looked very arcadey. The developer kept talking about a large world, but they never showed it or any aspects of exploration. Hopefully they'll open up the demonstrations a bit as release gets closer and we can see more of the game.

I think the art direction might be what's suckering me, really. It makes me think of...Doomsday? That movie from last year. I loved that movie.

From everything I've heard, and that's mostly from E3 podcasts the last two years, it's an FPS loot game. I'm interested, and I'll probably buy it.

The changed art style really hooked me and I'm interested in a first person Diablo loot fest.

It's always looked good to me, but the gaming press has been pretty meh on it since its inception. That's usually a sign that a game has problems that aren't evident at first glance.
I'm still hopeful, though.

It looks interesting, but I don't feel like October is the right time for it. Too much is coming out then, I'll likely end up waiting until January of February to actually play it.

Great trailer. I have high hopes for that game too.

I'm really psyched for this game. I only hope that it doesn't turn out to be too grind-oriented. Or if it does, that the grinding is fun
I am looking forward to this but am trying not to get too hyped because I don't want to be disappointed like with Hellgate.
I too like the co-op and art style and so on. Here's why I'm not interested: There is an excellent moment in an old GFW Radio where Shawn and Jeff are just brutal on Bordelands (it might be during/after E3 2007). It all came down to the devs touting the number of weapons in the game--that slapping a yellow sticker on a shotgun makes it a new shotgun. The piece was very funny, but it stuck with me that the game is based around this very superficial mechanic. I haven't seen anything to indicate that the game has grown past the "yellow sticker" mentality. I wish that it had, because the rest of it does indeed look very cool.

On a more practical note, Borderlands is due out at roughly the same time as L4D2, so there's a good chance I won't actually get it right away.
It does look really interesting, but so did Too Human this far out. I'm worried by how little coverage it's received, and would be very surprised if it's ready in time for October. I'd LOVE for this game to kick ass... just not really seeing it yet.

Yup, L4D2 wins.

This.
I've been sort of following the game since before the new art style, due to how it sounds like a FPS version of Diablo. The new art style, recent trailers and gameplay videos have made me really interested.

I'm pretty skeptical at this point. It looks like an extremely superficial game. Watching that trailer, I was just thinking - what, do these guys think Quake 2 came out yesterday?
I do like the idea of RPG/FPS, but this looks like just another poor execution of a concept Deux Ex nailed so long ago...

Come to think of it, I'm getting some Hellgate vibes from it. :/

I'm not getting those vibes, mostly because there's nothing about ... irrational pricing structures. I Get a hellgate vibe from Champions online, not this. I figure this'll be a Titan's Quest level game.

If you're right, I'll be happy. Titan Quest didn't rock my world but I definitely got my money's worth.

I'm just not seeing the hook. It feels (from the promo stuff i've seen so far) that they're not getting their 'vision' of the product out there to their customers..... and that worries me. We're not far from supposed release and the game isn't what i expected from their early previews and at the moment i don't know how it will play or what play experience i can expect. Compare that with Rage, a title that i once saw as a direct competitor to Borderlands, and it's like night and day. Rage is a day 1 buy for me - i want the upgrading racing cars, the post apocalyptic dystopian future, the weapons and faction combat and a vast landscape...... Borderlands has unlimted variations of weapons, vehicular exploration and....?
What? What is it that this game has? There's some small features/backstory mentioned on the wiki page but i just don't 'get' the game.

A friend of mine is working on it, and he's been talking it up as the best game he's ever worked on. He's pretty confident that they really hit it out of the park. I take it with a grain of salt, of course, but he did join really late in the project, so he came into a nearly complete title that he wasn't already emotionally invested in.
It definitely feels like their marketing is not capturing the sort of hyped feeling that I'm getting from this one source. I'm also guessing that it's the sort of game that doesn't demo well compared to many shooters.

Reading the wiki, it kind of reminds me of that Galactic Arms Race tech demo, where weapons are procedurally generated.
Yes, a shotgun with a yellow sticker on it is still a shotgun, but a revolver that shoots shotgun shells is a little cooler.

Looks interesting, and I'll at least give it a rental. If there is some diablo-like depth and replay value I'll probably stick with it.

If it came out on steam I'd probably be helpless to not purchase it...
I kinda wonder if you get to make your own char or if they give you four to choose from L4D style. All the current screen shots seem to show the same four. That could just be a marketing thing I suppose.
Wikipedia says that it's four set characters, but that you can choose from different skill paths for each.
