July 20 - July 24

When it comes right down to it, this may be the saddest week I've had the good fortune to report on. I am taking it on the faith that G-Force which is being ruthlessly deployed onto every conceivable system, is a throw-away grab on a brand that is basically being jammed down our collective throats, which goes in line with my assumptions about the movie as well. It's, of course, possible that the continuing degradation of the myth about movie tie-in games will apply, but I still like my chances.
It's pretty fair to say that I'd rather tackle basic home maintenance than spend money on a new game this week. After all, it's mid-July and I live in the suburbs, so I have an artificial image to uphold. Some light yard work, repair a few shingles, trim some branches and then soak in a bathtub full of my own dashed dreams. Yup, that still sounds better than a Rock Band Country Pack.

This is the saddest week

Let's just lock this. I think we're done here.

More catch up time for the glut of titles I bought in early summer I guess. This truly is a sad week, let us forget and never speak of it again.

The RB Country pack wouldn't be so bad if roughly half the songs included had already been released as DLC. Alas, this too becomes a week for the pile.

I read a review of Little King's Story in Game Informer. It might not be a bad game at all. It seems to be a kind of a cross between Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing, and Lemmings. It may be worth checking out. Gamespot seems to think it is pretty keen, giving it an 85:

I know, it's sad that I never gave a damn about Tim Tebow. And he never gave a damn about me.
What the hell is G-Force?
In before lock. :/

I actually like weeks likes this. It buys me one more week to get caught up on all the other games I have yet to clear from my pile.

Hey, you forgot the 27th anniversary of the release of ME! It's tomorrow. I just didn't want you to miss it. Rumor has it there will be a special commemorative edition that comes packed with gin.

It's weeks like this that make the words "steam sale" very dangerous.

agree with breander:
Maybe now I can catch up and get through Fear 2... and Dawn of War 2... and FarCry 2
and battlefield
and red faction
and Saints Row 2
and and and and and and
How do you people keep up with this stuff enough to mourn an empty week?

I would have to disagree.
I've had my eye on Little King's Story for a while now. It generated pretty good buzz when it was released in Europe, and from what I saw from video footage, it seems pretty fun, and has a good overlord vibe to it (in a less evil sort of way, but you still command minions!).
To say that there's no good games this week is just lazy.
You actually PLAY these games you buy? I just like to buy them and look at the pretty pictures on the back of the box.

I hear you. Whenever I hear people complain about the summer lull where there is nothing to play (although I would say the past two years have actually been pretty decent for summer releases), I assume they must be both unemployed and wealthy or have extremely picky tastes. I've still got a few titles from 2007 in my pile I haven't gotten to yet, and the fact that a lot of the titles I'm looking forward to this fall are RPGs will only exacerbate this problem.
I would think the first rule of PR is to ignore forum people, because they vacillate between crazy and liar. - Elysium
Yep, back to yardwork for me too!
This week just proves that I'm the anti-Elysium: I've been looking forward to getting my copy of Little King's Story from GameFly for awhile now.
And Elysium will write a joke about how I'm going to still be waiting to get my game from GameFly in a few months. It will be witty and hilarious, and I will wither 'neath the gaze of his scathing use of the thesaurus. We can save ourselves the trouble, and I'll wither now on my own.

I'll go ahead and add drying and wilting to my queue; they seem to be getting some pretty good buzz. I didn't really like waxing so much, though, so I'll skip on waning for now. Anyone else tried shriveling and wizening?

Wizening isn't for everyone, but it's really popular with the whole 'words as art' crowd.
