No report on who the female is, and really no other details of any kind.

Nashville is in a huge state of WTF right now. McNair was a good guy and someone you would never think to be involved in shady dealings. The condo where the shooting happened is in a bad part of downtown on 2nd Ave. It only adds to the "what the hell" factor. Metro police know who the female is, but they haven't released her name pending on her next of kin being notified.

Dammit TV analysts, do not start bringing up the "does McNair belong in the Hall of Fame" question today.
No, he does not. Don't make people feel like dicks by having to make that argument today.

Just saw this on the local news. Happened south of Broadway, which as Gumbie mentioned is not the best part of town -- well, shootings happen on 2nd ave a lot, but usually in the bar district; this is just weird. Definitely changed the mood around here from what I'm seeing on facebook and the news.

What a crazy couple of weeks. Apparently the lady wasn't his wife either...
Yet even then we ran like the wind,
whilst our laughter echoed under cerulean skies...
Looking more and more like a murder suicide. The weapon was found there and police are not actively looking for any suspects. The girl involved was 20 years old...

You know me better than that! (Although I do see ESPN at Applebee's sometimes).
No, it was Jamie Dukes on NFL Network. I miss Schefter already.

Seriously. Maybe we should get a GWJ death pool going too.

I don't think it was a bad a part of downtown. It was right off the main strip, but it only takes one or two blocks the wrong way to be in a bad area.
Wow, still in shock and waiting for it to set in.. What a horrible waste for somebody that has continued to stay apart of the community doing a lot of good work.
My response to that is always the same: does that person think Mark Brunell is a Hall of Fame QB?
Because their resumes are almost carbon copies.
CAREER GAMES (Played/Started)
McNair: 161 - 153
Brunell: 159 - 150
CAREER PASSING STATS (Yds/TDs/INTs):
McNair: 31304 - 174 - 119
Brunell: 31826 - 182 - 106
CAREER PASSER RATING:
McNair: 82.8
Brunell: 84.2
CAREER RUSHING STATS (Yds/TDs):
McNair: 3590 - 37
Brunell: 2433 - 15
CAREER PRO BOWLS:
McNair: 3
Brunell: 3
CAREER ALL-PRO:
McNair: 0
Brunell: 0
CAREER PLAYOFF RECORD:
McNair: 5-5
Brunell: 5-6
CAREER BLACKNESS:
McNair: 1
Brunell: 0
Brunell has an edge in passing, and McNair has an edge in rushing, but beyond that, they have the same resume. The playoff records are basically identical - both got their teams there and went ~.500 once they arrived. Both made 3 Pro Bowls but never once were considered All Pros. But McNair is a "black quarterback" and that puts a group of HOF lobbyists behind him that wouldn't be there if he posted the exact same career as a whitey.
McNair was more popular, of course, but that doesn't change the fact that a .500 playoff record with 0 titles, and a career stat line that mirrors Mark Brunell, doesn't make a HOF resume. There's not even a really good argument to be made for him. The QBs that get in without having a title to their name are prolific players like Dan Marino and Jim Kelly.

Ugh, no Mark Brunnel. As a lifetime Redskins fan, I shudder to think of the again failed quarterback potential.

Brunell was old by the time he became a Redskin though. He used to have a strong arm, but by that time, he had a pop-gun.

Maybe it's just my stupidity of following the Redskins through Hell many, many times. It took me a long time to realize that our owner is in fact nothing more than a rich kid with his childhood toys.

Yep, my bad. I was thinking of the part of 2nd ave by Greer Stadium.

I agree that McNair doesn't belong in the Hall of Fame, but this completely glosses over McNair's Super Bowl appearance, along with his co-MVP in 2003. Not only that, but I'm not entirely sold that Brunell has an edge in passing; McNair and Brunell have identical yards per attempt and Brunell's slight edge in QB Rating also completely overlooks one of Brunell's biggest failings (the fact that he took a ton of sacks).
Also, just to clarify, I think saying that McNair has an edge in rushing might be understating things:
Rushing Yards
McNair: 3590
Brunell: 2433
Rushing Points (from TDs and 2-Point Conversions)
McNair: 228
Brunell: 96
Brunell was a very good (and overlooked) player that, in my opinion, got a bit of a raw deal from a Jacksonville team who seemed a little too content to let his supporting cast stagnate. But, despite all of that, I'm not sure that he was as good as Steve McNair.

Luckily, that's not the argument. The argument is that McNair, at best, only slightly distinguishes himself from a player that NOBODY considers a Hall of Fame candidate. The point is that guys like Brunell are McNair's peers, not Hall of Famers like Montana, Marino, etc.
It's a reality check for the argument that Steve McNair has a HOF resume.

More details here. The cops aren't saying whether the girl is a suicide or not. The two had been dating for a while. It's beginning to sound like a Phil Hartman situation.
Monstroso? That's what this is about? He's king of the double cross. I mean, think about it. He's a lawyer and a super villain. It's like a shark with a grenade launcher on its head.
I was confused for a second when I saw "ESPN" and what appeared to be a piece of journalism. Then I noticed that it was a re-posted AP story.
They even got the Super Bowl story right - a yard short of forcing overtime, not winning (which ESPN talking heads get wrong constantly).

I know it is off topic, but I'm about ready for another network to really step up to the plate and give ESPN some competition. I remember enjoying watching Sportscenter every morning over and over years ago, and now I only watch for specific highlights and scores.
We would have gone for 2 for the win.
