Arma 2 Catch All

So Arma 2 is available for pre-purchase on Steam, to be released on the 26th. The German version has been out for a while now, and there's some great vids of it in action. There's still a lot of mission scripting errors in the single player campaign, but here's hoping those issues are resolved before the 505 games release. I've already got Parallax buying the game with me, we'll need 2 more to co-op the campaign. Who all is interested in this?

I'll definitely be picking up this game. While I'd love to Co-op the campaign, I'm not sure I'd have the time to do it. But I'd love to play some multiplayer with other goodjers.

I'm interested in it too. As always though from this developer, I'm worried about bugs and performance issues. This review of the singleplayer here is not encouraging on that front. Hopefully things will get ironed out in time for release (haha, riiight) or more likely sometime after.

This game may also finally push me over the edge into making my own FreeTrack thingamajig.

I loved Operation Flashpoint back in the day (Seven....go to...tree....Eight O'Clock). That never gets old. Anyway I hated Arma for its buggyness so I am hoping they don't make the same mistake twice.

I could see this becoming a huge GWJ game. We have a lot of SIM fans around.

From what I've seen so Far Arma2 has more in common with Operation Flashpoint than Arma. I bought Arma being such a huge fan of Opflash, but it never really felt as engrossing for some reason. Arma2, even in it's unpolished state is in a far better place than Arma ever was. I'm just really anxious to see what gets fixed in the 505 release.

The latest PC Gamers rates it at 83%, the articles main focus is on the single player campaign. If the multiplayer is good, I'll pick it up.

I have a feeling I will be picking this up. Probably not day 1, but pretty soon after release. I'm just waiting to see if one of my friends is going to get this or OFP2. I'm pretty mush sold on ARMA, and I think he's leaning that way, but we will see.

The German players have been used as paying beta testers the past two weeks. Not really the fault of BI, but a German retailer jumped the gun and forced them into extra crunchtime to get patches released. Word is the official North American release *should* benefit from this.

Stuff like the AI being horrible drivers should be fixed.

I'm taking a wait and see attitude on this one. I got burned on ArmA 1 at release - lots of bugs and terrible performance problems. I am hopeful that they figured things out for this game.

I must admit that I touched myself inappropriately while watching those Arma2 videos. If only I weren't certain that it would bring my system to its virtual knees.

If you system could run ArmA it can run ArmA 2. On my machine it actually runs better than ArmA 1, while still looking decent. My rig is no means top of the line (Q6600, 3GB Ram, 8800GT 512mb) but I can run it 30fps at medium detail. It's only going to get more optimized with time as well, knowing BI and the community.

You have to stay low in choppers to have them survive long. As soon as you get high in the air you got sams all over your booty.

Well it looks like despite the known issues Arma 2 is one of the top sellers on Steam at the moment. Can we get a roll call for who's in on this?

I'm tentatively in. It's going to depend on how this new 1.02 patch works out for our friends in the UK.

yeah OPF2 does not look tactical at all.... he took what 10 shots from an assault rifle within 20 feet, even from the hip in real life you would be dead meat. Looks like my hopes are pinned on a non-buggy arma.

When you're demoing a game at E3, you either put it on god mode or on easy. I wouldn't write Operation Flashpoint 2 off just yet.
