Interesting WoW Tidbit on Guilds

Guilds will also have a leg up on the green instance lines. These lines distinguish guild raid content. Whereas a group instance will be reset if all of the group members leave the instance, guild instances are designed to stay up for weeks at a time. This allows for some very difficult and impressive encounters where tens of players can work in concert to hold down a section of the dungeon or take on some of the truly impressive beasts that occupy the guild raid dungeons.

Can you repost the rest of the text? The site is horribly slow for me. From that snippet it sounds like guild raiding will be a part of the game, which is unfortunate because there''s no way I''m spending several days just fighting one dragon for a sword.

Within the dungeons there is commonly a shared space where players can mingle and take on the easier creeps that spawn there. Then once you''ve gathered up your party you head in through the blue instance line into the instanced area. Once you are in a group-instanced dungeon it''s all yours. Any member of your group that crosses the instance line joins your instance. Anyone who is not in your group enters their own instance. Simple huh?

Another important bit from the article. Am I allowed to repost the whole text? Im just pointing out the stuff that stands out as different or fruitful.

I wouldnt be too worried about guild raiding. Its just one facet of the gameplay. There is definitely an audience for it so they''d be fools not to address it. It sounds interesting. The way I see it is that it seems more like temporary control over a part of the gamespace. Thats something that users have wanted, a feeling of control or a may to make a temporary dent in the world. I think it sounds like a good compromise not a ""you must quest for weeks with 100 people to get the good sword.""

Ok that sounds a bit better. Yeah it''s probably not a good idea to post the full text, no need to spam up the forums because the site is slow.

To each his own I guess, I don''t plan on messing with it but more power to those that do.

Man, I am just trying not to get too hyped about this game and ruin it for myself. I wish I had time to go back to DAoC while I wait on WoW.

I really hope I get into the beta for this. I seem to enjoy MMORPGs most when the population is limited.

do that /day or /time switch and tell us total playing time for your main character(s)

My one good friend was an EQ addict until one day he did that and it was over 267 days...

79 days 7 hours 7 minutes. On my 58 druid I made on October 1 1999. I don''t have the attention span to play EQ THAT much.

Edit: I have some other chars but that one is my highest by far. I have loaned it out for ports and powerlevelling to friends so it isn''t even all my time.

Well, last night my shaman was up to 11 days 6 hours and some odd minutes. I have had alot of dedicated time spent on leveling though I did waste a few weeks worth of play time doing spell quests and practicing spell skills though, so that probably at least adds up to 3 or 4 days of played time. I think my first shaman had around 30 or 40 days played when I quit EQ for the first time, then my Cleric had about 20 days before I quit the second time, then my Rogue had about 15 before I quit the 3rd time. So, all together I have quite a few days invested. There even seems to be a pattern on my attention span as I keep returning to the game. This time though it seems that the game is going to be able to hold my interest for a while, LDON and POP have made it much easier to get 65 with really decent gear.

It''s a shame it didn''t have too many other high points I wanted to like the game, I really did, but I got bored after about a month.

The ship and character creation was pretty sweet in Earth and Beyond, and the game had a good feel and look to it, but after a several levels worth of trade runs, it started getting old. If they had just left the loot alone, it would have been bearable, maybe even enjoyable.

It''ll probably be like Earth and Beyond, and each individual will get the exp the first time they visit an area. I really wanted to enjoy E&B as well, but it felt too much like a fantasy RPG that had been converted to outer-space/sci-fi.

The first time I fought some floating squid thingy in space, I knew E&B was not the game for me. But the exploration XP was a great idea; I particularly liked how you could guide a newb through areas that they hadn''t seen and get XP for it. Somebody else needs to steal that idea.

Well, if that is the case, that would be a cool little bonus for exploring new areas. I was laboring under the impression that it was a first come, first serve kind of thing.

So the idea of instanced areas, is that the dungeon/area only generates for your group. So folks out side of yoru group end up in their own version and not in the whole with you taking up space and camping the area.
