I have in the past, perhaps, cast myself into the role of curmudgeonly villain whose crusty old angst and cultural irrelevance are both annoying and misguided. I blame the rampant misuse of the letter Z in games named things like Petz, Bratz or Racially Insensitive Misanthropez. But, let it not be said, like the grinch and his tiny, thumping heart, that the right game can't make my eyes still twinkle.
Improbable as it may be, Punch Out is that game. As though its happy possibilities had been whispered in my ear by an angel smelling of cinammon, Punch Out on the Wii is one of those games that just made sense the moment it was suggested. There's not a lot I just fundamentally get when it comes to Nintendo games, but Punch Out ... I get that. I will get that.
Hence, it gets the nod for Game of the Week.
Also, the more I sit down and think about a Jagged Alliance game on the DS, the more that makes sense to me as well. I'm not sure I hold high hopes, but it may certainly be worth watching or at least a rental.

Just read the Joystiq review for PUNCH-OUT!!, which pointed out that the game DOES use the "classic" control scheme if you so choose (also has Wii-mote/nunchuck/balance board support). That is exceptional news.
I don't have a Wii yet, but this is the first game for the system that has really made me WANT one... love me some Little Mac.

I keep reading the DS game Math Blaster in the Prime Adventure as Meth Blaster. That sounds much more interesting.

Hmmm...is that a new Boom Blox game, or is it the "Viva Pinata Party Animals" of Boom Blox?
I'll be getting Punch-Out. I was playing some of the classic this morning to get myself hyped up.
I'm also getting the UFC game, even though I have no interest in UFC, because all my friends are getting it.

Sorry, I skipped the Mad Max movie with Tina Turner in it. The first two weren't anything to right home about, and it's usually not a sign that a franchise is moving onward and upward when pop stars get cast in prominent roles.

Crazy talk, i tell ya!
The first one has its problems, granted. But the second one has some of the best action sequences ever. Great editing and camera work. Even though Mel Gibson is a douche.
Edit: Oh yeah, Boom Blox. Game of the week for me.

I'm intrigued by a new Boom Blox - the wife and I have had a lot of fun with that.
Hold the phones on Jagged Alliance - I thought it was a D&D game, but then I saw the boxart and realised I was confusing it with Dark Alliance.

I'm a little disappointed with the roster in Punch Out. Over 30 fighters to choose from but they only include a total of 13? That not nearly enough IMO. I'm going to hold off until I read some impressions.

Apparently the gameplay is considerably deeper and more fleshed out than any Punch-Out before it, even if the roster of fighters isn't terribly large. 1-Up's review is surprisingly glowing.
I'm renting it from Gamefly to start, but I fully expect it will become a purchase.

I'm strangely interested by Punch-Out! ... could it be the game that makes me turn on my Wii again after almost 6 months?
And regarding Jagged Alliance DS: wait for a review. If it has voice-overs, it's probably worth it. If not then I'd rather suggest you get it from gog.com
