"The GAF Collection" Alternative box art.

Just saw this on joystick and holy crap I'm really tempted to print some of these out and stick 'em in my own boxes...

Essentially it's alternative fan-made box art for various games, done in a "Criterion Collection" stylee. Some of them are absolutely stunning.

I tried putting together a post of all of the covers that I liked from the thread, but the list just kept growing...and growing. All things considered, probably the best GAF thread in a long time.

This would be really great without the watermarks. Some of them would be simple to photoshop out (Katamari, Rez), and some would be impossible (BG&E).
That Shadow of the Colossus one in the OP is amazing.

Those are epic. Even with the watermark, I wish I could switch the images on the XBLA games to some of those.

I'm pretty sure they're almost all concept art with text added. They're still excellent. Katamari one is very good.
Why the "Resist" Beyond Good & Evil cover is one of my favorites.
Might want to look at these Photoshop Phriday bits. They contain some very nice similar stuff.

Because GAF is making cover art for GAF. EA and everyone else are making covers for basically mass market appeal and rack appeal. Same reason DVD artwork is kind of cheesy unless its from Criterion.

These are great. I wish they were sized (and included spine/back) for actual use, I would totally print them and slip them in for some of my games...
