I'll definitely check it out. I've seen a ton of different cheap-o hunting games marketed at people who don't play other video games. It sounds like this one's of higher quality and I've never experienced the realistic hunting gameplay style.

It's Mister Wind to you. SteamID: mrwynd | Wii Console: 3065 2313 3382 9158

It's a trick. Get an axe.

Sounds interesting. I think I'll try this one out over the weekend.

This is apparently developed by Avalanche (Just Cause) and is most likely running in the same engine, so I would expect a very high level of polish.

I really liked Just Cause, so what the hell, I'll check it out.

Here's a quick trailer of some of the game. As it says at the end, this is all in real time.

http://ve3d.ign.com/videos/40447/PC/The-Hunter/Trailer/Extended-Trailer

Once you get past the less-than-desirable looking website, the game will surprise you. As they say, don't judge a book by its front cover!

Huh, interesting. Never really played this kind of game before, but I'm certainly willing to give it a shot when I get home!

If you can't be a good example, at least be a horrible warning.

The character creation is fun. I picked the most foppish-looking dude I could find. I wanted to give him a vaguely offensive sounding name, but the game helpfully generated "Lyle Burgos" for me, which sounds like a character from Achewood.

I don't know how the friends system works, but if you guys figure it out before I do my nick is Podunk.

edit: also, their servers must be getting slammed. This download is agonizingly slow.

Like I said, the website is terrible and the character generator is pulling CGI photos from the FBI pedophile server.

The game gave me the name 'Roosevelt Cordero', which I immediately accepted. My gaming handle is Roozey and I'll add you later. Let me know what you think of the game.

Also, the download is only like 300MB, so it's not too bad.

It's bad when the launcher is reporting a download speed of 0.00 to 0.02 KiB/sec.

Haha, I suppose it's all relative. I think it took about 25 min for me.

Trust me though, it's worth the wait.

A friend of a friend's name is 'Jesus Gore'. Whomever was in charge of the name generator deserves a medal of some sort.

The game looks very well done. Strangely, I find myself wishing it were a realistic sniper sim rather than a hunting sim.

I thought the same thing as I was playing. Someone needs to clone this and put it in the new Modern Warfare or something. Human prey would be a bit more fun.

I've been pulling this down for a while too. I've seen the speed spike as high as 20Kib/sec, but usually it's less than one. Reminds me of the Steam during the UT3 sale a few weeks ago.
I'm eager to try it out if it ever downloads.

I have absolutely no interest in hunting or hunting games in general (why is it that shooting animals bothers me more than shooting people?), but this looks interesting. I am Anodyne, AKA "Rosario Tompkins." I have mutton chops and an enormous forehead.

The downloader is some kind of P2P thing. It seems to go a little faster if you cap the upload rate to something reasonable. It keeps it from tying up your connection as much as well.

Game Zone Interview wrote:

The system can create whatever we allow it to. At present we've purposely restricted our data to produce "good looking" individuals, but we'll add more variety as time goes by.

Winner. Go to the settings and throttle the upload, makes a big difference.

It makes a different but this thing is still downloading at a snails pace. At present, my wait appears to be about 2 days. Haven't had to wait that long for a game to download since 1996.
