Elven Legacy - Sequel to Fantasy Wars

Elven Legacy is slated to release on April 7 in North America and April 9 in Europe. I've heard little about this game, but know it as the sequel to Fantasy Wars, which I believe was a remake (more or less) of Fantasy General.

I'm seeing it all over the place for $30 and am considering it for purchase, though I didn't ever buy Fantasy Wars (was waiting for a price drop that never came).

Some reviews are already in at Metacritic. Anyone have an opinion either way? Played Fantasy Wars? Enjoy it? Hate it? Can't remember?

Both of those look interesting. I'm going to check out the Fantasy wars demo. 1st thing I thought of when seeing this post was Fantasy Empires! Best game I ever got for $10.

It's only $8 at GamersGate this weekend. I enjoyed it for what it was, seeing as how decent turn-based strategy games are quite uncommon nowadays. It's a little rough in the way those East European games can be, which was fine at the time, but now with King's Bounty filling a void and Elemental on it's way, I probably won't pick up this one unless it's got significantly more polish to it.

Also, Fantasy Wars is hard. Some people made it out to be brutally so, but they tend to be the obsessive compulsive type who don't think they actually "beat" a map until they win the Gold medal for beating it the "best" way.

I would think the first rule of PR is to ignore forum people, because they vacillate between crazy and liar. - Elysium

That's what I'm talking about. I finally picked up King's Bounty last week for $10 and while I enjoy it, I have no problem splitting my time for an $8 buy.
