Killing Floor Catch-All

Ya, maybe.

Anyone picking this up tomorrow? I'm debating it but really want some goodjers to play with instead of randoms.

Oh, man, probably. Not that I'll have time to play it. lol

I don't have time for the Early Access but I'm ready to make the jump over to 2. KF is fun and all but the grind to level up perks got to me pretty fast.

Oh hell yes I'm getting this tomorrow.

Man, it sure has been way too long! I'm in.

I'm really tempted to get KF2 as well. I liked Killing Floor alright but it felt like it could really benefit from some more polish. Looks like KF2 might be just that

I've not been a regular player for awhile but still put a ton of time into KF. I'm going to purchase it right away!

I bought it and I'm downloading now.

Played few matches and it's still the same great gameplay I remember. Now I just have to decide how to split time between this and GTAV.

Agreed. New graphics are great. The weapons feel good. Very fun already!

I need to build a new rig for these newfangled next-gen games. Sure, my 6 year-old i5 750 and HD 6950 are good enough, but I want more! MORE!

So the "Early Access" part isn't an issue? No big weirdness anyone is seeing?

The only thing I don't like is no sharpshooter.

Or firebug.

Whaaaaat. I'm assuming they merged sharpshooter and firebug skills/weapons into the other four(?) classes.

Congrats! But rest up. Truly.

Thanks! Got home REAl late from work tonight so I did not get a chance to play. During my game last night there was one patch of lagginess but all else was good. We cleared the 9 waves with no one dying but the big baddie killed us (all lvl 0/1)

We may still see those two. There are empty weapon categories and, most likely, missing classes to go with them.

I watched a developer interview where they said there would be MORE classes compared to the original, not less. So chances are it's just not in the game yet.

The devs have been awesome post release support by updating the original for years and keep adding maps, guns, etc. We should expect the same for the sequel.

I figure I'll spread the word here. I got a server setup for Killing Floor 2 that a bunch of my local friends are using, but it's free to folks here if you're interested and there's slots open.

I'll be getting in as much time as I can in before our baby arrives (any day now!). Let me know if anyone runs into issues though.

So...I got this. But I'm probably gonna need a little help getting trained up.

To start...no idea in this interface how to add a server to favorites by ip (like you would in TF2, et al).

Secondly...I'd really take some recommendations for what weapons to try to buy as you advance in waves, as I have no clue.

Thirdly...so not clear which class a newb like me should pick.

I played a partial and a complete round of waves with Mantid...who really seems to know wtf he's doing. That was quite a bit of fun, and I liked it much better than the first Killing Floor, as I (mostly) could follow what the hell was going on.

Think I could really use some very basic advice on most everything, however...

edit: and finally, what do you do when some guy welds shut the door to the nearby pod/shop thing? Can you unweld?

Sniper flamethrower, you read it here first.

I don't believe you can add a server to your favorites via IP, but you can go to the Server Browser, look at your history, and click the Star on the lower-right when you select the server you want to favorite. Then it should show under favorites.

I like Commando for starting off. You get a bunch of ammo for the rifles and you get a chance to stay back and practice headshotting from a distance. This works really well if you have a team with you that can take the front-lines for you as well. Everyone has a different preference as to what gun to get, so I would just work your way up the chain of guns for your class as you can afford them until you find the few that you like. Then you can favorite those guns for future matches as well!

A few thoughts after an hour of play:

The new graphics are great, but the environments tend to be dark and super busy, which makes them much less readable. When you don't already know the map, it's hard to identify stuff like weldable doors. Big windows sometimes don't read well either, even at ultra detail--lots of times I found myself running to pick up an ammo box, only to discover that the opening I was running toward was actually a huge pane of glass. Annoying. I hope they clean up some of the clutter.

I dig the new music, and the way they identify the artist/composer up in the corner. Nice to see Living Sacrifice get some love. The Hammering Process \m/ \m/

I wish there was still an option to host a server locally. I hope they add that back in as the game gets closer to v1.0.

Tripwire has taken some cues from Valve and the L4D games, and one of those involves making the PCs ultra chatty, calling out ammo boxes, weapon spawns, and commenting on elements in the environment. This is fine in theory, but in practice it kind of sucks. Voice acting is a little rough around the edges, and the intensity of the delivery doesn't vary with the in-game action, so you'll be in between waves and reloading your weapon and your dude will yell "BUGGERING RELOADING!" Okay, man, I get it, this is a stressful situation, but still. You'll also have a weapon or ammo spawn that is in a location that is inaccessible or almost invisible from where you are, and your dude will yell "WEAPON OVER HERE" and you are like, what? Where? WTF? The barks during combat seem way too frequent--They're okay from time to time, but I don't want my dude constantly yelling out taunts and screaming and cursing every time a clot grabs him. And then there's the junior high level attempts at humor. I have not run across too many of these, but the one that stands out triggered when walking past a clone tank in Biotics Lab: "Cloning, eh? Well, it'll make threesomes easier!"

Really, guys? Maybe this particular character is supposed to be a churlish doofus, and I am missing some important context, but that just made me so embarrassed for the whole team (and also for myself, in case my wife overheard it). That plus the Christian hardcore music playing in the background suddenly made the whole thing feel like it was conceived by some home-schooled 19-year-old who thinks that the men's rights movement has some really good points.

I put about a jillion hours into KF1, and I expect to do the same with KF2. The game still feels great. It's just that when the presentation of KF2 is so much more polished than the first game, the stuff that still feels amateurish becomes much more jarring than it otherwise would be.

Dude....psshaaah 13 year old humor is awesome.

What really gets me is, who's he going to clone for his threesome? Himself? That's pretty messed up!

One of the first things I noticed was that there's only one woman PC and a bunch of dudes. Kinda disappointing. Overall having a lot of fun with this though.
