R.U.S.E Catch-All
An RTS coming to the PC (primary platform), Xbox 360 and PS3. If you zoom all the way out you're taken to a cool tabletop style view of the battlefield with board game style pieces to direct. When you zoom in it smoothly transitions to a 3D in-game view as usual. Combine that with HUGE maps and a card system that allows you to trick your enemy in various ways and I'm suddenly very interested.
To see a really nice demo of the game in action at GDC be sure to hit Gametrailers! Current release target is Winter 2009 and it's published by Ubisoft and developed by Eugen Systems. Not sure I've heard of them before, but they base out of Paris and did the Act of War: Direct Action game back in 2005.
I heard that they were keeping Elysium in the ICU not because he needed intensive care, but because they needed to be careful of his intensity. - Wordsmythe

Awesome! Another WW2 game! We haven't had a dozen of those come out this year yet.
The engine does look nice.

Oh okay so it's RTS, I see now. I thought it was basically a tabletop WWII game with fancy graphics. That looks like a cool approach to doing an RTS.

That game was pretty awesome. It was kind of a Command & Conquer-style game, complete with live action cutscenes, except it took on a completely serious tone involving urban warfare and a looming energy crisis. I was excited to find out what they were going to do next.
Also, between this, EndWar, and buying up Massive Entertainment, it seems strange that at a time where the RTS genre isn't doing spectacularly, Ubisoft of all companies seems to going headstrong into it.

I like the look of it as it doesn't seem as micromanagement-heavy as most RTS titles happen to be nowadays. Didn't care about EndWar at all, but RUSE sounds interesting.
Ruse DOES look crazy good. Looks like the best parts of Supreme commander and World in conflict rolled into a big spliff of awesome. The initial trailer kind of put me off as I didn't really know what to expect. I really dig the way the units scale as you zoom in and out, so they are always visible. That engine is beeeeautiful.
892 condescending Certis quotes out of a possible infinity - Elysium scores Torchlight lower than expected.

My curiosity is very piqued... I really want to see this game in a truly live (being played) setting. I am such a sucker for RTS games that contain unique things (methods of management in particular). It looks so delicious here!
Yeah but if you watch all the footage and listen to what the guy has to say, you hear him say that the game is pushing 8 cores to 100% while playing. That is ridiculous. I wonder what they are using for GPU's and how many.
Still sit me at a table where I can play like those two guys in the trailer and I would giggle like a school girl.

Act of War was wicked fun so I'll keep my eye on this one.

Ah, finally a reason to break out the haptic touch/flatboard touchscreen desk I've got sitting in storage.
Seriously though, how cool would THAT be at (whateverpassesfor)an arcade? It'd be like militaristic Yu Gi Oh!

I hadn't even heard of this game until 2 days ago and now it's at the top of my follow list for this year. My only concern is that since is is cross-platform, that the PC version might suffer some. That siad, they did originally have plans to bring World In Conflict to consoles which is a game that suited the PC quite well so we'll see. Some of the things that engine does blew my mind though.

I'm still secretly hoping they get this game working on a Microsoft Surface table to mimic their trailer.
Holy crap. Oddly, that does indeed look crazy good.

When I saw the title of this game, I secretly hoped it would be some sort of M.U.L.E. clone!
Anyways, it looks pretty interesting... I'll be keeping up on it.
Oh crumbs, I'm all thumbs laying here with you. You're beautiful and busty and I'm a little rusty - I've forgotten what to do...
Based on one of the videos I've seen, it looks almost like it was designed with Windows Surface in mind. Which would be entertaining, but most prohibitive.

The ability to zoom out to increasingly abstract views is great. This is exactly what I wanted when playing DOW II.

Looks pretty interesting.
Act of War was pretty entertaining. Nothing all that groundbreaking, but I remember having fun with the campaign.

Yeah, I really like the dichotomy between real life graphics and a WarGaming board or War Room strategy map. It's such a different visual style and yet makes perfect sense when you see it in action.

In DOW II I keep wanting to bring up a map ala Company of Heroes where I can see the lay of the land more clearly and issue orders - particularly in the MP portion of the game. Whether you get to the abstract command-wide view via zooming (SupCom, Sins) or via a hotkey map (CoH) I find the inclusion of such a command layer indispensable. I am not sure why they eliminated that "feature" from DoWII having done such a great job with it in CoH.
Miami, FLSeattle, WAI ended up using the mini map as the next best thing for that.

Ok, I can't really tell what's going on here. Most of the demo involved panning the camera. So, yes, it's a great camera. But how is this different from another RTS apart from the great Camera?
Plus, WWII. Zzzz.
