Okay, so it's a PS3 exclusive so there probably won't be much interest around here, but has anyone been tracking this game?

There's a new preview over at Gamestop that makes the game sound pretty sweet.

You play as the sole survivor of a massive explosion that destroyed a good chunk of a city and threw it into anarchy. In true comic book fashion, the explosion gave you the electric super powers. You can recharge your powers either by touching something electrically charged, or draining people.

The game is supposed to have a Fable-2 or Mass Effect type karma system. Draining people for energy has a negative effect-- if the preview is accurate, even if the people you're draining are bad-guys.

I understand that a large part of the game will have to do with public opinion of you, which doesn't start out high. As you do heroic deeds, you'll get more good will from the people you save.

I've been keeping my eye on this one since I first read about it months ago. Anyone else interested?

Ooh a new Sucker Punch game. I probably got 90% of my PS2 playtime out of the Sly Cooper series. Definitely looking forward to this.

I enjoyed Crackdown quite a bit but never did technically finish the game because I got tired of hunting down all the bad guys. Mostly I enjoyed collecting all of the agility orbs and kinda lost interest once I got them all. If Infamous can offer that same level of fun while offering a story that keeps me playing then it'll be a sure-fire hit.

I'm actually finding myself more excited about this game then I am of Prototype, since as has been mentioned we've been kind of overwhelmed by these GTA-clone-with-a-twist titles that tend to get tedious at about the halfway mark and this seems to have more RPG-ish qualities and a deeper story than most of it's kin, if the previews are to be believed.

The Sly Cooper series, in particular the last release, convinced me that Sucker Punch are geniuses. They're especially good at packing their games with huge amounts of variety and surprises--I hope Infamous doesn't fall flat in this regard. I'm a little worried that, unlike the Sly series, it'll be a bit more of a one-trick pony.

I'm surprised but I actually preferred the video review. Sure the guy narrating it was a bit annoying but seeing the same kind of "voice" written into the text review just set off all the wrong signals in my brain.

Looking forward to this one, I'll have to see how the other review sites call it before I decide rent or buy. I did like Crackdown.

I'm bored of the old signature, please feel free to suggest a new one.

Same, I wasn't really following this one but the latest preview vids have been pretty sweet. Yay, another reason to turn on the PS3!

I think it's fair to say this game will not be a major console-pusher-- not a whole lot of people will purchase the PS3 just for this game. As a non-console player, this game seriously makes me wish I had a PS3 though. It's hard to distinguish hype from info, but it really looks fun. Gameplay footage looks nice, the flow looks great, I love that a lot of levels have easy access to more resource, I love that some levels make resources much more scarce-- it seems to have a lot of potential.

I still need to pre-order this, but I intend to. It looks, based on everything I've seen, like it'll have longer legs than Prototype, with more varied thing to do and experience.

I guess I'm not the only one interested in this, but not Prototype. I was also interested in Velvet Assassin though, so my interest is cautious if optimistic. I will probably wait for reviews.

Well, I'm interested in Prototype, too, I just think Infamous will be more to my liking. Infamous looks a bit more balanced and nuanced. I intend to get both. Prototype looks great, but Infamous looks fantastic.

You're not the only one. Infamous just looks ... I dunno, smarter than Prototype. Infamous seems like a "it's fun to screw around and try new things" game, while Prototype seems more "it's fun to hit stuff" and "tons of blood is cool." I've preordered Infamous but don't have any plans to get Prototype.

I am interested in Both Prototype and Infamous. I have a lot of respect for both developers, and I plan to get both if I can afford to. Why did they have to release them within 2 weeks of each other?
