GWJFFL 2008 Postseason

Thanks guys... I'll keep a lookout.

EA worked fine in FireFox for me last year; and the features (coach & commish) were surprisingly good.

I've always loved Yahoo!, so I don't mind going back there. (From a commish standpoint, unless Yahoo has changed much, EA had more customize-ability of the scoring.)

Despite my original plan to wait until training camp started, I gave in to pressure and started last year's thread early. Too early. By the time it was at the point for folks to actually commit, half the people that said they were in changed their mind or just went AWOL. I won't make the same mistake this year.

As such, keep an eye out for the thread to appear in about ten days, maybe a little more. Returning veterans will have a week or so to (re)claim their spot before we open it up for expansion teams.

Of course, if someone else is impatient enough to start the league up on their own, who am I to try and stop them?

Edit: It looks like *Legion* posted while I was typing. If you guys want to start a thread to discuss where's the best place to host a fantasy football league (in general) this year, it might be a worthwhile discussion. As for me, I mostly just do what he tells me anyway. That being said, the EA site might have improved... *shrug*

Of all the years we've had a GWJ FFL I thought the Yahoo site was the best. The only reason we left was because they didn't have blind bidding, if they added it I don't see any reason why we should not go back there.

That wasn't (initially, at least) why we left. We left because there was no way to turn off non-waiver free agency. Players that weren't on waivers could be picked up at any time - even during games.

I'm not yet clear on if this is still the case. There is bidding for waivers, but can it be forced to make all free agents waivers? If not, then most free agency would still be first-come first-serve.

Regardless, FleaFlicker is much more flexible. particularly with the ability for the commish to "fix" problems. And it's fantastic for leagues that continue year after year, saving league history and all that. If FleaFlicker delivers bidding as promised, I definitely put my vote for them. FleaFlicker isn't as beautiful to look at as some others, but it became so rock solid that I stopped hosting my league on a pay service last year, and moved to FleaFlicker instead. And we're staying there this year.

The admin on the FleaFlicker forums wrote a few days ago that they expect to have blind bidding up and running in 2-3 weeks.

I definitely want to go with FleaFlicker, but apparently Yahoo updated their free service to include, among other things, blind bid waivers. So if FleaFlicker doesn't deliver, we have another option that doesn't involve that awful, IE-loving EA site.

Great news. I'm happy to get away from the EA site.

Me too. Wasn't a big fan of the EA.

Yeah, count me in so that I can have my team explode again in the playoffs after being dominant again in the regular season!
