Cory Banks, Michael Zenke and Julian Murdoch are in full effect this week while the rest of the gang take a well earned break. Julian has demanded that I mention he even produced the show himself on his new MacBook Air and it only took him five minutes or something. La de da.

Hey man, I just pushed the GarageBand buttons, not the "post to the feed with the snarky comments" buttons.

I'll DukeMatch with your Cory, I got suckered into buying it.

It's late because I completely forgot to post it, more or less. This week is just shooting by!
I'm tempted, but for some bizarre reason games like this always seem to have performance issues online. Anyone noticed differently with Duke?
Before you can respond to this though, you must collect 12 donkey rectums. - Pyroman[FO] deflating all arguments.

Tim?! Awesome!
Yet even then we ran like the wind,
whilst our laughter echoed under cerulean skies...
Good show this week. I enjoyed the RB2 deep dive - something that likely would have been vetoed if certain people were on...

Tim Schafer is the one to finally explain to me why I love Heavy Metal.
He is the man.
Great show. I'm not changing my band name to a cookie name, tho. Sorry! VaJayJay is funnier.

On the Wipeout HD front, there's a thread up and full of people ready and waiting to have some online future racing fun.
I hate you soo much Phil Collins!

How is it the podcast dwells excessively on my favorite games when I'm not on it?! GAH! Beard smash!
I felt -- I feel -- that Shawn, Rob and Julian were making out with the game, and as their friend I felt it was important to point out that they were making out with an ugly chick. - Cory Banks, keeping it real
That's what you get when you take a vacation.
Toil for our amusement, beardo! MUWAHHAHAHAH.... sorry.

... worst band names, ever.

The Tollhouse Express is awesome.

I have to throw my support behind Tollhouse Express. I would also like to say that the Oreo Cookie Experience would be pretty awesome too.

I love the interview with Tim Schafer. Mr. Murdoch's star-(bleep)ing abilities really come in handy.

I loved how he pimped all these other interviews he's done that we don't get to hear.

Am I a bad person for Wikipedia-ing Brutal Legend just to know what the heck was up with it before the interview?
Edit: Wait a minute, RB2 is banning the band name because it's a nickname for that female body part? Isn't that like banning the name "Mother Frakkers" because frak is a nickname for f*ck? It was on frakking broadcast television, for Gods' sakes. All right, I'll stop channeling Colonel Tigh.

You guys need chapter listings. Would be so much easier to skip through this Rock Band 2 crap....
I, for one, would welcome a Mac gaming thread.

I approve of Oreo Cookie Experience. You are brilliant, sir.

I think that it's a good idea for MMO developers to withhold patch notes. It may adversely effect player behavior prior to the implementation of the patch.
Awesome podcast, especially the interview, but I'll correct you guys a little bit on the rumour thing.
It was Wombat who had the idea for the competition after Cheapy had his rant. Cheapy was against the competition, but it didn't stop him from using it to prove his point after it happened. You also didn't mention how obviously bullsh*t the rumour post looked, and that Joystiq was the one big blog that didn't post it.

I've only listened up to the beginning of the Schafer interview so far, so forgive me if you revisit the rumor thing, but I just wanted to add something regarding the withholding of information by publishers and developers. It's often because of the same reasons that Mr. Zenke alluded to regarding why publishers don't like rumors. They set up expectations based on information that may not be true. A developer might have every intention of implementing a feature or change, but then find that they can't for any number of reasons.
I get the impression that hardcore fans basically want the entire design document up front, to pour over and build anticipation with, but that's potentially damaging. Anyone who's ever worked on a game knows that the game never matches the doc. Features change. Some get cut, some get added. Good ideas on paper turn out to be extremely high spec to implement, others are added as they're discovered during development. When this happens, if fans had the information, they feel betrayed or lied to. You don't need to look further then Fable for an example of how damaging this can be.

Here for you baby.
Snideness, snarkiness, I'm here to deliver.
I love the sound of the new WoW launcher/installer implementation. I wish more games would implement the elegant Guild Wars system where you only download what you need, when you need it. Huge weekly updates that delay your playing seem so archaic.
And Zonk, I agree. GW is still a great game.

Yellow5,
I don't disagree. The savviest marketers understand how to play the information dribble just perfectly, getting both official and unofficial information out at just the right time for peak hype right around launch.
