Blizzard is planning to remove the attunement for Onyxia from the game due ,supposedly,
to the return of King Wrynn in Wrath. Have to admit I find this a sad change. Best guess for when is with the patch pre-Wrath.
Interesting. A co-worker of mine told me that King Wrynn has returned to Stormwind and Lady Onyxia is no longer present in the throne room.
Sad really. Such a great storyline.
Correct. You can read the comic book to see how it all came to be.
What? They just outright got rid of the Onyxia attunement quest chain?
1) Boy, I'm glad I did it when I could, because yes, that was an awesome quest chain and the events at the end were fun. Sad to see it go.
2) It would be nice to see Blizz actually put in storyline progression that alters the world and residents of Azeroth over time like how older mmo's (think Asheron's Call) did.
I say to you this: for those people that claim to have loved the onyxian questline, including jailbreak!, how many of your post TBC alts are onyxia tuned?

I don't have any high enough level, but I would want to run the questline at least a second time.
I worked for my attunement, as well as several others. Hell, I've 3-manned the escort in BRD. At 60. It sucked.
I'm glad they removed this, but I hope they do it all at once. As it is now, from what I've read, you can do a lot of the chain, but then you get to the Keep and the lady's not there. Woops.

It doesn't bother me too terribly, I just hope they do something cool with King Wrynn.
Me too. I find it interesting that he's being positioned as the foil to Thrall -- raised by orcs as a gladiator, escaped, etc -- but rather than learning tolerance, he's very, very pro-genocide of the orcs. At least, that's what I get from reading synopses of the comic. Which I should pick up.
I'm also worried because Blizzard has proven that it's extremely difficult to tell a story in an MMO -- at least one with the coherency of an RTS or similar single player game, if onyl because you're limited by how much you can change the world of an MMO. But we'll see.
Speaking of Ony, when're we gonna get around to killing her again? I still haven't gotten to see that encounter.
Let's get Naxx out of the way first. Then I'm all for money runs on Ony. I'm attuned. I think Peecaboo's attuned, but wife has no interest in playing her.
Enix - until they release patch 3.0.2, yes, you can still do the attunement.
"And my son, too, thinks everything is a launchpad, every bug a meal, and every sunny day a reason to take all your clothes off and roll around in the grass." - rabbit
Eh, never mind. Wowwiki says all of the quests are disappearing along with the attunement. That wasn't the case with Kara, where the key requirement is gone but the key quests still remain.
Well, they've moved one of the key players in that questline out of her previous position. Making completion impossible. They've said they'll look at figuring out a way to re-implement the questline in the future, but it won't make launch.
Better to have people able to get into the instance, I guess, is the logic.

As someone who played almost exclusively Horde, Good Riddance! I hated the Ony attunement. I know that as an alliance character it's completely different and incredibly cool, but as Horde, it was horrible. Just to give you a taste, the first part of the quest doesn't even come from a quest giver. It's an orc on a watchtower just outside Kargath (one of the hundreds of orcs standing on a watchtower in the game) and he has no !. You talk to him, continue reading, continue, continue, continue and then he finally gives you a quest. Unless you know explicitly, "Talk to Person X (can't remember his name anymore) at place Y for at least 5 screens" you can't begin your attunement. And even then you get to run such awesome instances as LBRS. ugh!

Does this mean that Windsor will forever be locked in the cell in Blackrock Depths? That is really the sad thing

We had some big Ony push about eight months back, Seth.

I'm not attuned for either Onyxia or Kara (or much of anything else, really). Feel free to make fun of me elsewhere.
I don't think the actual Onyxia attunement quests are going anywhere, though. You can still do 'em if you want, right?

Pawley is attuned, so if we can run it I'm certainly up for it.
