Servers Picked:

Destruction: Volkmar
Order: Iron Rock

Guild Poll closed 9/12/08. Votes below. Discussion continues.

1. Join another guild (or guilds) or create our own.
For Joining: 12
Create our own: 11

Conclusion: Voting on this issue seems even. We have an offer to join up with Control Point in a Destruction guild.

2. Type of Server preference: Core rules, Open, or Roleplaying (all the RP servers right now are Core rules).
I'll give quick definitions:
Core = RvR only in RvR areas (this is a big area in most realms) and scenarios.
Open = RvR everywhere, if you can get to the opposing faction's PvE area you can kill them there.
RP = Core rules, roleplaying limitations on names, roleplaying suggested.
Here is a quick link to a Marc Jacobs post on the subject of servers.
Most votes at present are for Core / Open and against RP. At present Core has 13 more declared votes than Open.

Conclusion: There is a clear GWJ preference for Core rules.

3. Order or Destruction, post a preference if you have one.
Destruction: 13
Order: 9

Conclusion: There is a GWJ preference for Destruction. However, there will most likely be a GWJ presence on two servers, one in a Destro guild, the other in an Order guild.

4. Server choice?

Discussion closed for now. See top of post.

5. Guild names.

CP may name their guild Target Is Not Attackable, or WARP.

Feel free to discuss names in the thread, but I probably won't have time to tabulate results this weekend.

My votes:

1. Join a guild. But I don't know which.
2. Core.
3. Order - I like the Archmage and Swordmaster. But I'm willing to play Destruction for a Chosen.

I am playing Destruction and either Core/Open RvR. As far as guild goes I am not sure...

I'm not positive, but I may go open RvR in this one. Any word on whether you lose equipment or gold on death on the open RvR servers? You still can't kill someone of your own side, right? If so those would be deal breakers for me. WAR just seems like it will be more RvR to AoC's ganking, even on the Open RvR servers.

I want to go destruction with you guys but... the White Lion, Engineer, witch hunter, swordmaster, and shadow warrior are calling me. I also want to play a warrior priest but the disciple of khaine seems similar so I could go with that. (the warrior priest has a better look imo)

If I do go destruction I'll prolly go... oh who am I kidding? I know I am going to dabble with all the classes except the bright wizard and marauder. (I don't like the look of either)

Guild I'll probably join right away if its GWJ. I'll prolly wait if it we merge with a larger guild. Though if Eason has a guild lined up, let me know.

No idea on servers but I took a peak at the classes yesterday just in case I get sucked in and there was 0 order classes that peaked my interest. Black Orc, Marauder and especially the look of Chosen had me drooling.

I think there will be enough GWJers playing at launch to form our own guild. If our numbers dwindle, we can then see about joining up with an other guild.

Core or RvR either should be fine with me.

I am up for either side there are classes I want to play and would be happy making my main for both Order and Destruction.

As an added I would also love to be a banner carrier for the GWJ guild. What ever we name it

For the guild, I would say that we organize with an affiliated website to try to get the biggest guild possible. That way people arn't left by themselves when the next shiney object distracts the goodjer collective.

Faction wise, I worry that the majority of players will be going towards Destro, so am alittle anxious about choosing the faction; However, we will not know until release so, I will reserve judgement on this.

I did read in the FAQ on the WAR main site that even if you are killed in PVP, you don't drop any of your items or gold. (But you can be looted from a seperate PC loot-table)

Yes, basically they loot from randomly created items, none of them are yours and you don't lose any items when you die.

I know my husband and I will be starting a destruction guild if one doesn't form from pure GWJ and anyone interested in playing dustruction is welcome. I know we won't be playing on a RP server but not sure if we will play core or open. My guess wuld be core. I know I will also be rolling toons on both sides so look forward to hearing what everyone decides on.

I voted Core but I'd be willing to play RP, frankly. Just wanted to gauge interest.

I'll add up the votes at the end of the weekend, but right now it's looking like GWJ guild / Core / Destro.

Probably this topic will draw a lot more interest during Preview Weekend, whenever they finally get around to that.

Updated the OP with votes. There doesn't seem to be enough interest in this for the data to be useful, so I'll quit bumping my own post.
I'll probably try to find a beta guild to join for now, so send me a PM if you know of a good one.

I think it is because a lot or peeps are taking the waiting and see with WAR. There has been just too many let downs over the last few years...

1. I say join with another guild. The reason being that I will want to do some crazy RvR in the game and it will be hard to do that with the small numbers GWJ guilds usually have.

2. Core rules.

3. With no outside influences my vote is for Destruction. However, it seems that most of my family wants to play Order and that Order will probably be the underdog (I love playing as the underdog), so I'm not totally against playing either side.

The CP hosts are going to be playing on a core realm and start off as green skins. We're going to be starting a new podcast to cover the game as well.

If you guys want to play on the same server, we'll be using my server choice method... the 2nd to the last alphabetically on release day.

That sounds as good a server choice method as any other... updated Tkyl's vote and added CP info.
I'll add Tkyl's point about crazy RvR is the main reason I'd like to be in a big guild as well.. I want to have a large number of people on our side and storming the castle, or keep as it may be.

If I may suggest another method. I have a friend at Mythic and I might be able to find out what server most of the guys there are going to play on. Would people be interested in trying to jump onto that server (which ever one it may be) or does it make no difference?

Why not the other way around? Try and promote the idea of 2nd to last alphabetically to them...

I coined that method because I'm tired of all my friends having to cross reference each other to get on the same server. If you use that method, you always end up on the same server as other people who you've told the rule.

That was my hesitation about suggesting this method. I could see it getting extremely confusing/ However, I did suggest this method to my friend and he said he would try to promote it. I'll let you know how it goes.

Be careful though. If you promote this method too much, you might have to change it to the 3rd from the last ninja

yeah... I know... but right now there are two communities and about 20 people who know it... so I think I'm fairly safe..

Oh, and as a funny sidenote, the "Wes Wilson Patented MMO Server Selection Method" picked a server that has been down for a bit of the closed beta... It's very frustrating... but I don't see that issue in release.

Hey guys I will want to play Destro....I'm gonna try out a Chaos Chosen. I vote that we make our own guild. and I would say a Core server. As for server choice I'm not sure I will be in the open beta on Sept 7th. So let me know where everyone is going so we can all play together.

Does that follow your server selection rules? Barak Var was on the bottom when I checked last night.

Also added Inioth's votes to the OP.

When the hosts got invited to the Beta, Mad Dog, or whatever it is, wasn't on the list... so there was only one server with a letter after B.
