Obama's VP is Gen. Wesley Clark?

This article notes an interesting coincidence embedded in the DNC Conference schedule. What do you think?

"Sometimes I go around saying, 'Kommisar Paulson has seized the commanding heights of the economy!'" - Paul Krugman, asked if recent changes to banking are socialistic.

Interesting but "Securing America's Future" is so non-specific that it could as readily be an accidental name collision.

Obama's campaign offers to register your cell # on his website to get an exclusive SMS when he "unveils his VIP choice". It's almost as if it's Blizzard's next project.

Why not Webb or Biden or Nunn, etc. There is a lot of speculation that this hints at who it will be except it doesn't appear to be narrowing the field much.

Webb explicitly ruled out his participation in the ticket.

From The Washington Note

Quote:
Obama to General Wesley Clark: Your Services Not Needed

General Wesley Clark is not attending the Democratic National Convention. I was told by General Clark's personal office in Little Rock that he would not be attending.

Clark was informed by Barack Obama's people that there was no reason to come.

General Clark has been given no role of any kind at the convention.

Rubbing salt in the wound even more, the "theme" of Wednesday's Democratic convention agenda is "Securing America."

Wesley Clark's PAC also happens to be called SECURING AMERICA.

This is a mistake in my view. There are a lot of perspectives and competing agendas about how to direct America's next national security posture -- and General Wesley Clark should be one of the top tier names and personalities at the table.

Clark is loved by the netroots -- and I'm sure that they would hope that the Obama campaign will revisit this decision to exclude General Wesley Clark from the entire Democratic National Convention ageda.

-- Steve Clemons

Update: I have reconfirmed with General Wesley Clark's office that he has not been asked to play a role at the Democratic National Convention. His staff have told me that while his schedule remains tight, he would rearrange his schedule to help play any constructive role on any days of the convention if asked.

I seem to recall Clark said some pretty embarrassing things before and during the primaries. Based on that alone, I would have been surprised if he'd been the choice.

Yep, I saw that. Still, all the rumors are fun.

Most people who were not in the military don't know that Clark is an udder idiot, a coward, and shouldn't be allowed to lead a kitten hearding operation let alone ANYTHING dealing with live people again.

Clark is a loser.

An idiot, AND a loser. Wow, I sure don't like the sound of that! Can you tell me why he's an idiot and a loser?

This article appears to lay out the controversy. There are some other gossipy tidbits involving adultery during his career, but I'm not familiar with those.

Some of it. I't hard to qualify why most anyone who has ever served with or under the man despises him so. The fact is, all Generals are involved in politics in some way, all the time. However, Clark used troops as tools in political games which is a line most anyone would never cross (or at least leave that up to the President level, where it is his job to use US forces as political tools, at times). Clark had no regard for the lives he was responsible for and took little interest in leading his forces. He's just a BAD leader and a tool.

And yes, I meant udder.

I remember the troops hated Clinton and loved Bush when Bush first came in, but most of America would rate Clinton as a better president than Bush at this point. When it comes to electing civilian leadership, military people can make mistakes just like anyone else. I don't want my leaders determined according to who the officer class thinks is morally or temperamentally qualified to serve as their commander.

I don't think you can really get any info about the VP pick from the convention scheduling. The convention scheduling is handled by a separate group of people, and the odds are very good that those people don't know the VP pick (if one has been picked). I think it's safe to say that if it were widespread enough for the people making the public schedule to know then it would be widespread enough to have leaked by now.

Those believed to be on Obama's short list stayed mum.

Biden coyly told reporters staking out his home in Delaware, "I'm not the guy," as he drove by. Sebelius, in an interview with the AP before she stumped for Obama in Michigan, professed no inside knowledge of when word would come.
