WoW: New Guild on The Scryers
As the title alludes to I started a new guild on The Scryers server called "War Forged". This is my first WoW guild I have created and I made it because I have some friends that I either just got them into playing or they wanted to try Horde side and made a new character on this server. I was just throwing this out there as I know we have a lot of WoW players here.
If you were looking to make a Horde character and wanted to join in on the newbie leveling fun I will make sure you get an invite or if you have some existing Horde characters and were looking for a new home same deal. The Scryers is a laid back server that is seeing it's first real population boom since we got the overflow of the more crowded servers ( I suspect due to WotLK coming out, but who knows?).
Just thought I would throw that out there and let people chew on it for a bit. Could be fun to have full groups to do all the lowbie content. Also I have a couple of 70s that are kara/heroic ready so if we get an influx of 70s that is on the table as well.
edit:
People you can contact to get an invite:
-Ethos
-Arranae
-Gilghalad
-Altarin
-Lechuk
-Aurilous
-Krzyzowski (I put this one separate because he is a total noob and may just ignore you out of fear
)

Might be a good idea to list the character names we should contact if we want to play.

Crashed, just wondering, why didn't you guys go to one of the servers where GWJ already has horde people?
Well I was already located on this server. My friends kind of jumped on the server without my knowing and started leveling up. They don't level all that quickly, some of them being new and all. I would feel bad to ask them to all start over, and this way I can feed them gold for mounts/bank tabs/etc from my 70s doing daily quests and the like.

Depends on the level Crashed...i'd say if they are 30ish and under, they will level quick with loaded bags and such if they hop over. If not...good luck, and we'll see ya over there.
Unless you're running out of mana overhealing is the most worthless stat in the game. Underhealing is effectively known as "wiping".
so sayeth the Bear...
One of them is above that level the others are on the verge of passing it. I can bring it up, but I doubt it will happen. Of course if anyone wants to start an alt on our end they are more than welcome in the guild. If nothing else it will just be for the fun of everyone leveling a bunch of alts and doing the old world content. On a side note we just ran BFD and I totally forgot how cool that place really is.

So I figured out why I prefer leveling alts with people I know. The pugs at the start of the game are so much worse than end game pugs. I've had mages run into melee range and start swinging a sword instead of wanding (not even out of mana), Cat fights between a priest and a mage, group members that can't figure out aggro and why they keep getting killed when I can't heal both them and the tank at the same time, and various other strains of the retardation disease.
Ah well it's been fun so far getting to go back and see the old instances again from a healers perspective. You definitely get to take in more of the scenery that way.

Curse you Crashed. My 70 hunter, warrior and priest are on the Scryers and have been happily retired for about 4 months or so. Now I am feeling the pull of WoW again, oh that vile, addictive mistress that she is.

Well as Brett Farve has shown us, retirement is only meant to last a very short time

It's was nice to see you in the game Elysium, even if you only pop on occasionally it's good to have you in the guild.
My mind is still boggled by the lack of knowledge people have with their classes. I'm now level 42 with my resto shaman and I have been seeing more and more horrible players as I level. I have had hunters that exclusively go into melee range (and are specced marksman), a holy paladin that said she was healer but let everybody die (I'm not talking one shot either they were slowly murdered while the pally just sat there), rogues that try to tank mobs while we are all drinking kind of far away, and paladin tanks that didn't even buy consecration or turn on righteous fury (the ability that adds more threat to holy damage). It's insanity I tell you.
Regardless of this I am having fun with my resto shaman and find it to be a fairly awesome healer minus some mana issues. I LOVE that the healing totems get extra healing from +healing gear.
If anyone else wants to come party with the guild just pm one of the names abouve when they are on. Right now it's just a group of friends playing so the ass hattery will down to a minimum and the more classes we have available for runs the less o fit will surface.
OH also if anyone needs a scroll of resurection on their account or want to have a free trial let me know I have plenty to give out. Just send me a PM.

When you hit level 63 (I think), you get Water Shield, which helps with mana regen significantly.
Mana Tide totem is also really great, but on a kinda longish cool-down.

Yeah mana tide totem is nice. I expected it to return more mana than what it does, but I guess it does help out the entire group (soon to be raid). I have heard some shamans say that chain heal is the bread and butter of healing spells. Is this true? Seems fairly mana inefficient to spam this.

Chain heal is very mana efficient when you consider the multiple jumps it makes.

Blyvie - 70 Protection Warrior Klios - 70 Fire Mage
Xavina - 70 Resto Druid Miristaa - 70 Enh Sham
So you would only want to use it when multiple people are taking damage? Or is it something to spam regardless? The way people were making it sound was to just use it regardless.

The simple answer is "use it regardless". The life of a resto shaman is chain heal, chain heal and more chain heal. Leave Lesser Healing Wave on your toolbar but only for a quick emergency heal. For anything other than that it's cost to use ratio makes it useless. Healing Wave is our biggest heal but it is not as efficient as Chain Heal. So yes, chain heal, chain heal and then chain heal some more.
But if you think Chain Heal is great wait till you get Earth Shield. I'm sitting on a base healing of about +2100 unbuffed. If I drop my WoA totem and pop my trinkets I can pump that up to almost +2800. Earth Shield on our MT ticks for around 1400 to 1600 and all that lovely aggro goes right to the tank!
If you're interested in the theorycrafting behind this there's an exceptional write up at EJ.

One thing I have noticed though is that Resto Shaman aren't the greatest healers to have on the MT. Our best heal is a 2.5 second cast and it's amazing how long that is when the tanks getting pounded on. In 5 mans we're fine but for raids you're better off with a Paladin or Priest on the MT. However, for healing a melee group in a raid we're simply outstanding!
Bear wtf did you switch to shaman?
[edit]
the "w" in the above "wtf" is actually a "when," not a "why." =)

I've had a Shaman on the Horde side for almost 3 years. He started out with GWJ Horde then migrated to Blades of Vengeance when they merged. I've been Enhancement since level 1 but we're terminally short on healers and didn't have any Resto shaman. About a 2 months ago we (the late night group I usually run with) left BoV, changed servers, merged with another guild. We're just ramping up again and started to push hard on SSC. We're currently banging our heads on Leo. We're not where we need to be but we're getting better. We've got about 15 rock solid players and about 25 people who play like they just installed the game yesterday!
Resto is not my favorite spec but it's growing on me and it's substantially less work in a raid than than Enhancement. No more running around twisting totems, now I just stand in the back, drop my sticks and spam Chain Heal. Unfortunately this does require me to pay attention all the time which isn't my strongest attribute.
I usually take our melee group and just refresh ES on the MT. We've got a Fury Warrior who does crazy dps and as a result his aggro rewards him with some solid incoming damage. I just spam CH him and it usually keeps the entire melee group up. That is of course unless one of them has a lapse and eats a cleave. What is it with rogues and their propensity to eat cleaves anyway?
I'm going to start running a bunch of ZA's, I want to see if adding some uber haste gear makes MT healing a bit more bearable. I'm concerned though because to me it seems that a ton of haste means I just risk going OOM too quickly, I unfortunately can't regen anywhere near as quick as Druids or Priests. Bastards!
I have found that Resto in BG's is a hell of a a lot fun. There's nothing more rewarding than having a rogue flail aimlessly on me while I slowly dissolve him with Flame Shocks and fire totems!
I'm still working on my gear but here's a link to the infamous Bearamoo:
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Uther&n=Bearamoo
I do hate resto shamans in pvp. I think only resto druids are more annoying to kill.
[edit] for typos.
You can kill a resto druid?
sure -- resto druid vs me, a rogue, and shadow priest (for silence).
NO PROBLEM! =D
[edit] for typos.
Well thats good to know. I just switched to enhanccement last night to help speed up the lvling. All the criting makes my fury warrior look like a scrub when compared at similar lvls. I plan to go resto when I get into the outland stuff, or maybe once I hit 70.
Yeah I could see shamans not being the best as a Main Healer but would rock as an off healer. We will see how it all goes down, but I have an Arms warrior and warlock for all the dps I could need so this toon will definitely be going back to resto at some point.
Also, Enhancement Shamans rule at the lower levels so far. I've never seen so many windfurys and crits from one char before. Definitely some form of awesome
. I hear they aren't that great when raiding until like t5 or something like that.

Hahaha yeah that's true.
I was amazed at how much aggro I got though. The tanks I ran with weren't very good, and that could have very well have been the problem. However, just doing white damage got me some unwanted attention from mobs at times. Of course that was after 3 windfury crits in a row

Hey you guys still letting GWJers in? I just decided to give into the Wow addiction again, looking to start out all fresh and new.
Don't forget the Alliance side on Blackhand. They've got ZJ on farm and are moving into some t5 content shortly.

I'm very low level, so its lonely over on Blackhand, I tried it for a bit a ways back, no one else around that server to level with.
Yeah we will always be letting goodjers in. Just whisper one of the above people when they are on and we will set you up with an invite
