Eureka Season 3 (Here be spoilers)
So season 3 of Eureka (Sci-Fi, Tue. 9PM EST) just started. As I now live a few states away from everybody who I knew that cared about this show, I need an outlet. So I'd like to open this thread as spoiler-rich environment for your, comments, impressions, theories. Thanks in advance for giving me an outlet for my pure Eureka joy.
So I'll get things started.
Pink/purple liquid? Scandalous.
The plot device which introduces a clear avenue for product placement: I don't know how I feel about that yet. It could go terribly terribly wrong, but if handled right it could be unobtrusive at worst, fodder for some good jokes at best. I give them a few episodes before I pass judgment on that creative decision.
The new power structure/engagement: I'm all for it, there has to be some sort of overarching drama to tie the story together and this should do nicely for now. I get the feeling the new boss is going to be one of those characters we love to hate.
You're thoughts? Don't let me down Eureka fans, I know you're out there.
I hate you soo much Phil Collins!

The actors had sort of a WTF look on their faces during that whole scene.

Indeed, it fit the scene for the moment, but such things must be handled delicately.

Haven't watched the new episode yet but will soon. Season one was awesome, season two was a mixed bag but I still enjoyed the show overall. Really hoping they can bring back the feel of the first season.

What really doesn't make sense is why any corporation would underwrite GD. It's supposed to be super top secret, right? Where's the upside to Degree's bottom line?

I was a fan of season one, but completely turned off by season two. I couldn't even muster the enthusiasm to watch episode one of season three. I'll be waiting to see if people feel like this season is a return to form before jumping in.
C'mon Eureka! I want to like you.

I missed the episode last night:( Anyone know if its on Hulu? Or will Scifi reair it soon?

Agree. It's like they took the successful character structure of season one and decided to just jumble it for no reason. Move Stark out of the leadership position? Why? Some of the best lines in the first season involved Stark being condescending to the regular joe sheriff. Other decisions just baffled me. Playing up the sheriff's daughter's love life? Again, WTF? I'm here from some fun science fiction, not a geeky Beverly Hill 90210.
In season 2 the show was just all over the place. It never seemed to figure out if it wanted to be a serious drama, a serial, a MOTW show, or a soap opera. Some good moments, but they just seemed to have lost focus. They should have studied Monk to get a sense of how you run a successful character-driven genre to a cable network audience.
I found it on http://www.scifi.com/ under Full Episodes. Not sure how long it will be there, but was there earlier today.

I wondered, however, where Jack's flame, Callie, from the last season disappeared to. I personally don't want to see Alison and Stark get together, but I dunno...Also, I can't wait to see what happens to bald!Henry.
Ep 2 aired, so what did you all think?

Why were you turned off by Season 2? I've been watching it and well season 1 was fantastic, Season 2 is just as good, I really enjoy it
though I am not a fan of Stark and was glad they took him from being director but the show is seemingly still as good as it was when it started.
Season 3 is pretty good so far, I've enjoyed it not really a fan of the product placement stuff but it could turn out to be alright, we will see.

I just finished season 1 last night. Talk about a heart-wrenching finale. Although you see something bad coming, it still hurts when Carter has to do what he does. Comes close to Buffy season 6 IMHO. But not quite. Looking foreward to season 2, but I'll take it with a grain of salt given Ely's response.

I missed it last night (curse you PixelJunk Eden), but I caught it this morning. I'm really pleased with the way things are shaping up. I thought the pacing of this episode was a little slow, but there was enough to keep me interested, even if rapid de-evolution is one of the more far out ideas the writers have thrown out there (at least for me).
I liked the reality TV thing, those are the touches that make the town feel real.
I'd like to see more character development from Joe, they teased us this episode, but it's been a while since she's had any real growth.
Product placement has been adequately explained for my liking (you have to find some way to subsidize the cost of that town and assuming that the government is more than happy to shoulder that financial burden alone is a stretch, especially in the midst of a recession) so I will allow it for now.
I didn't get turned off by season 2 the way some people in this thread did, so it's hard to say if the show has gotten back to it's former glory, but I'm really really enjoying season 3 so far.

Just caught up with last nights episodes. One of the best episode titles ever "best in faux"
A lot of good things. the relationship between Stark and Carter is back in full force. Which is good news. The product placement has become less obvious (I didn't notice any this episode). And it was genuinely fun to watch. Also I'm interested to see how this new Henry story arc will play out, it's hard to trust him after season 2, but I want to.
On the down side, the pressure metaphor was a bit overdone this episode. I grasp that they are trying to tie events in the town thematically to events in peoples lives, but seriously, I'm not stupid.

I just caught up with the show. I didn't know what people were talking about regarding product placement until I saw Carter in the shower staring at the shampoo bottle, followed by a 2-3 second closeup of the name on the shampoo bottle, followed by me realizing that the shampoo bottle had no significance to the story. Subtle, guys.
The ad for the episode promised that one of the major characters was going to die in the episode, but I was surprised by the one they picked. WTF, Eureka producers? Seriously- WTF?
I couldn't believe who they picked. However, its only episode 4, and they seem to play with time a lot, so s/he might not be gone.

I had a feeling it'd be him, if only because it ties in with the wedding.

That and it wouldn't be the first time... he'll be back, he always seems to be.

You guys are probably right. I've just been so meh about this season and the last one that when I see him go it gives me another reason to stop watching the series. They kind of painted themselves into a corner with the wedding thing, I thought. Maybe this was the way out.
I hadn't seen any of the commercials promising imminent death, so I was really really surprised when it became clear at the end that Stark was going to eat it. As it stood, this episode felt like a season finale, at episode 4, so I'm really interested in what they will do from here.
And I wouldn't be surprised if he came back.

I just got into this show due to Hulu and love it. The last episode, despite my newness pulled a few heart strings, "I see you around Jack".
You might want to mark the title as having spoliers now.

The last episode made me cry, like a little girl. Damn show. It was a very Whedon-like move on their part.
I hate time-travel episodes... but this one was done pretty well. They took the Groundhog Day thing and really turned it on its ear.

I think this was one of the most creative episode I've seen in awhile. Can anyone tell me how to do that neat spoilers thing so I can elaborate?

I like that Carter remained Carter throughout. Through all the time travel he never became a Bill Murray bastard, he just kept trying to solve the crime, cuz that's what he does so well.

What's the etiquette on spoilers? I understand the justification to worry about them on movie threads because not everyone goes to a movie on opening weekend. But on TV shows once they air an episode, everyone has had a chance to see it. Is the etiquette to blank out anything that references the episode content indefinitely?
