Peter M. Announced that Fable was finished back in E3. And its anamolous nature to his way of getting things done (or NOT getting things done)has got me excited. Really? Done? 4 months before release?! Heck Ya!

So I'm exicited. Anyone else? Here's the latest 1up preview : http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3168898&p=4

Lets hope that most features touted have made it into the game and are fully functioning!
so, lets try counting them off:

--Inventive combat system
--Dog, that doggedly follows you around
--Romance, and condoms
--becomign a slum lord
--Two player mode with ramifications to both players characters
--all the fun features thats were in the orginal game
--breadcrums?

If you can think of anything else, I'll slap it up here!

I look forward to joining your games, ransacking your houses and harassing your villagers!

I believe what he said is that it's "content complete" and they've still got about 2000 bugs to squash (but he also noted they'd already squashed about 40,000).

Also, to nitpick I don't think he ever said that multiplayer would have ramifications for BOTH characters. It seems to me that the "sidekick" character is visiting the main character's world. They'll be able to get XP and items and the like but I doubt their world will be fundamentally different when they return to it.

Hey, getting paid is a ramification! And I'm betting killing innocents will most likely effect your moral scale, regardless of whose game you're in.

I also assumed the bugs, Im just amazed that there isnt a content race down to the line.

They probably hired someone to punch Peter in the face every time he suggested new content after a certain date.

Anyone have any clue about how those XBLA games for Fable 2 are going to work?
I recall seeing them demo'd in videos at some point and hearing PM say you earned money in them for your singleplayer campaign and could play them before the game actually hit shelves.
But if all is as promised and they are done by October, wouldn't it be in their best interest to get the Live games out earlier, say, now-ish, to get people more excited?
Or was it some kind of "pre-order-fable-2-and-get-the-live-games-only" kind of deal?

Its a preorder thing. The codes go out for the XBLA games in august. So two weeks or so for those that preorder.

I do like Peter Molyneux a lot (in spite of his past overpromising) and I've been following Fable 2 for a while but I'll definitely be renting this first. I pre-ordered the original one and it was a huge letdown for me that just didn't deliver what I thought it would. It looks like a lot of those shortcomings have been dealt with here but I'll have to see it first. I really hope they nailed it though.

That reminds me of the multiplayer model that they had in one of the Animal Crossing games. I think it was for the DS.

In Ultima Online I used to poison hams and leave them on the ground in cities for people to pick up and eat. I can't believe how many people thought street ham was a good thing to eat. -Elliottx

Fable 1 was a really great game for the price once it dropped a few bucks. I'll probably pick up Fable 2 early next year, for the annual drought.

Fixed. It takes serious management skills and discipline to 'finish' a game long before submission. 2000 bugs they can kill in 2 weeks if they rush, but obviously they don't need to. It must be nice to be working at Lionhead right now if this is true. 4 months to release and no crunch in sight? Very nice.

Well, technically it's more like 3 months to release, but yeah, if true this is a pretty good sign for the game.

The only thing that's got me worried about Fable 2 is that it can apparently be beaten in 12 hours. I know, I know there's plenty of sidequesting and sandboxing to be done, but it still feels a bit light for a story-driven game.

That was my biggest gripe about the first game. It was just incredibly short, with no true replay value. Other than that and the lack of "meaningful" choices that they claimed were in it, the game was fun.

My biggest gripe about the first game is that by the time the story got rolling I was already a white-haired old man (and no, I wasn't a mage).

Yeah, I really hope that they have lowered the age curve a bit; I had to resort to the youth exploit in the last game. I think I heard that the rest of the world will age with you in this one. Am I making that up?

Yeah, tying the aging to your experience level like that felt really artificial, especially since it's so drastic, and noone else in the game ages.

I like Oblivion's method of just sort of telling you you're old via flavor text when you start hitting the higher levels.

Actually, from another source, I heard the opposite was true, that the visiting co-op player would get no XP from the co-op play. Though that makes very little sense to me, so I wonder about the accuracy of the reporting done there.

Negative.

That's co-op exp sharing has been touted as a feature for as long as I can remember for this game.
