Dead Zone (help!)
The Story:
My wife and I just bought a house in a nice little town of 1600 people about 20 minutes from where we used to live. I am currently an AT&T customer with a 8525 (Tilt) PDA phone.
The problem:
It seems that the road that I live on (although in the country, I still have houses near me) is a cellular pit of hell. AT&T works out in my driveway. Results are similar with Sprint/Nextel, Verizon, US Cellular, and T-Mobile. Once inside the house I get no signal at all on any of the above mentioned carriers.
The question:
Can anyone suggest some sort of technology that will help boost the signal that can be picked up outside in the driveway into my home? I have heard of boosters of some sort that are used alot of times in office buildings/basements. Is there something practical out there that I could use to help me pick up the AT&T signal in my home? I have grown quite fond of my Tilt and since no other service out there seems promising, I would like to find some way (if possible) to keep using it without standing in my driveway to recieve calls.
Any suggestions?

Well, T-Mobile offers "UMA" calling on phones that support wifi... it essentially uses your wireless connection, instead of radio signals, to make calls.

We got one of these boosters from cellboosterstore.com and I can attest to how well they work. I went from 0 to 1 bars in our office to full signal strength.
It works very well, and was definitely worth it for our office.

I find that not living in the country works wonders for me.

I find this too. The glut of easily-available bandwidth makes it even more worthwhile. And the proximity to all the services I could need!

I was totally expecting to see one of those stickers that people used to claim increased their cell phone reception!

Also, call AT&T. Complain. Weird(a company listening), but it worked for us. When we moved in, I could only get a signal on the front lawn, and the upstairs east side of the house standing on one leg. Called AT&T and let them know that their service sucked in my area. They said that they would make a note. Thought I was blown off...
I'm pretty sure that it wasn't just me, but about 3 months after the call, I started to get full strength signal throughout my whole house. No longer have to talk on the front lawn.

I've got plenty of trees along the sidewalks and in the park across the street. As for wildlife, the closest I come is neighborhood dogs and the guy down the hall's parties.
