Where the hell do I report illegal adult material?
Sunday, July 20th, 2008 - 5:30pm
I mean, like serious adult material starring children :/
On a private web forum I frequent (general discussion, nothing special), some dude registered and posted a thread with a couple of clearly illegal pics... hosted at imageshack of all places.
That stuff really bothers me and I want to know what the hell can I do about it? The admin posted his ip address and email to see what we could do...
Not cool at all, man...

Just contact your local police department. They in turn will contact the FBI who will then take over the investigation. Make sure you do not have any of that stuff on your machine in any form or you could be liable as well. The FBI doesnt care about ignorance.
At my last job we categorized "content" but it mostly revolved around network traffic. Some of our EAs (exposure assessments... like on-site trials) would capture some pretty horrible stuff. When we found out we had crap like that caught in our engine the FBI was always involved and we would have to turn over the entire hardware device that captured the traffic and give a written step-by-step, minute-by-minute accounting of the whereabouts of the hardware from the moment the content was captured.

For all who live in such times, it is not for them to decide. All we get to decide is what to do with the time given to us
United States would be the FBI, should be contacts there somewhere. Interpol has a task force of some kind, also information here somewhere. There is another link on Interpol, but I've never herad of the Virtual Global Taskforce.
Saw videos on the airlines heading to Europe from Interpol about warnings to people looking for sex with children or shopping for underage prostitutes. One was "She may look 18, but she's not. You can go to jail." etc.. tons of resources to find out there to stop the uber-pervs.

Eh, I reported it to a couple of webpages and to gmail, it wasnt so easy : P
I dont know if it does any good since the guy is probably also in Mexico and I doubt even Interpol can do something about it in due time, but I feel like I have to do something about it...

Mex - file a report with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. They work very closely with ICE nowadays. It may vary from district to district, but in my experience it's Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), rather than the FBI, that are really working overtime to track these guys down. NCMEC is an incredible agency.
I've had the unfortunate opportunity of doing legal work on numerous child porn cases in the past few years. It is beyond gut-wrenching to have to see those sorts of images. I take some consolation in the fact that the penalties for possessing or distributing child porn tend to be very harsh.

Find out where he lives and set him on fire? Other than that I don't know how to help. Glad you're trying to do something about it.

Google his email address - if he lists it publicly anywhere / else should be able to dig something up. Damn jailbait.

Wha-? So if it's in your cache because you saw it and reported it you can be done too? That makes no sense... so basically there's no incentive to report this stuff because you could be prosecuted as well. I don't think this is the case... perhaps you're being overly cautious?

What is the legal age there in Mexico? It does vary from country to country(heck I think the age of consent varies from state to state).

18 and you can do whatever you want, however if you receive consent from the parents, you can marry as young as 12. I haven't heard of it ever happening, but I've seen cases of girls marrying at 16(still frowned upon in my state). At my job I meet girls of 16 with a child, so it's definitely happening, hopefully consensually.

There are plenty of 16 year old pregnant girls running around. Usually impregnated by 16 year old boys. Sadly, though, not always the case.
Getting killed, though? In a way that you don't like? Suck it up, Gertrude.
