How Current Are You?
Friday, July 18th, 2008 - 4:30pm
A simple political/current events quiz.
I scored 9 out of 12. I missed the following:

The current majority leader of the US Senate.
The country Hugo Chavez is president of. I got tripped up by Venezuela vs. Colombia.
The Dow Jones Industrial average. I don't pay attention to it.
How did you do?

9 out of 12. Not bad for a Canuck, seeing as 8 of the 12 questions were about American goings-on (9 if you count the Dow Jones question).
I'm pretty sure that by "prominent people and major events in the news", they meant "prominent people and major events in the American news".

I got 10 out of 12. Missed the chairperson of the DNC, and guessed low on the number of US deaths in Iraq.
I'm pretty surprised that women did that much worse on the quiz than men, especially since college grads did better than non-college grads, and there are more females graduating from college than males. Also, I love how much higher the percentage of all demographics is that got the Oprah question right.

now is that 91% of those who took the quiz or of the general populous?
6 out of 12, 50%. I am average!

It says they represent a national telephone survey, so I assume that's a population sample.

11 of 12. When I answered the DNC chairman, my computer screamed at me.
My screen didn't tell me which one I got wrong, maybe the majority leader.
MaxShrek .. Do it first, do it yourself, and keep on doing it.

8/12, which is better than I expected, got these wrong: majority leader of senate, Obama supporter, Dow Jones (I was nowhere near optimistic enough, damn you British media!), and chairman of federal reserve.
