Saw this on Mercury News in regards to The Shield's final season (it's probably too early for a catch-all, I don't know the etiquette to be honest).

Quote:
A GRAND FINALE? "The Shield" kicks off its final season on FX on Sept. 2, but already some cast members are hyping the series finale, which has been shot and is in the can.

"It's the greatest finale ever," raved CCH Pounder. "It blew my socks off. This finale is exactly what Vic Mackey (Michael Chiklis) deserves."

Added Chiklis, "What thrills me about the finale is that you will not see this coming."

"The Shield" creator Shawn Ryan, of course, provided no details of the finale episode, but said it will avoid the pitfalls of other series that lose their pace and tone in an attempt to provide a blockbuster finish.

"We stay true to ourselves. It will feel like 'The Shield' universe," he said.

After season five, this show has won my viewership forever. I can't wait to see how it ends.

Here's my prediction.

Sexy. I will officially have to go on media blackout about this show now. Can't wait for the final season.

I did feel the previous season was a bit of a bridge, not particularly mind blowing like the season with Kavanaugh but still setting some juicy things up down the road. Hopefully it all pays off in the final season.

All during the writing/production runup, before the writer's strike, Shawn Ryan kept referring to the upcoming season as 5.5 -- saying that it was more a continuation of last season, directly, rather than its own stand-alone season, marketing concerns aside, I guess.

For your prediction to work, Shawn Ryan'd have to tap his former boss-man to help him with the lyrics, no?

Either way, funny stuff.

The Shield is an awesome show. So far it hasn't forgotten why it was a great show to begin with.

Getting killed, though? In a way that you don't like? Suck it up, Gertrude.

I'm still behind, haven't watched last year's truncated season yet.

I've been trying to get other people to check it out, but it's hard. A lot of people watch the pilot, and dismiss the show as another cliched "I'm a hard-boiled cop who doesn't play by the rules!" story. And in a way that's true, it's no The Wire, but it's still incredibly well-written with some superb acting chemistry going on.

I would think the first rule of PR is to ignore forum people, because they vacillate between crazy and liar. - Elysium

So, Mackey kills Shane? Or other way? I love this show.

Despite the torturous wait between seasons, this show always delivers. I'm glad the show's going to have a definite ending, and I eagerly await it.

I always thought it would end with either a) Mackey actively turning himself in to "kill the monster" he created in Shane; or b) some sort of ending where Mackey manages to escape justice, but winds up terrified and alone -- a la the Season 1 ending -- but with Shane dead/in jail.

As for the "not seeing this coming" part of the finale...Jesus, I've no idea with this show anymore. What a great run.

The show definitly knows how to deliver twists without being M Night Shyamlon stupid about it. I wonder how Ronnie will play into this season, hes a fairly complex character that doesn't get a lot of play time.
