I hated John Connor in T3. Talk about cutting the nuts of that character. Christian Bale can handle the weight of the character. The entire future of the human race rests on the man (or at least the robots think so).
We shall grapple with the ineffable, and see if we may not eff it after all.
I want to be excited about this, but I just can't get past the feeling this franchise is being whored yet again, because some studio exec needs money for a new beach house.
Just on the basis of Christian Bale though, I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt... for now.

Yes, he did. So that's fine if the point of the movie is to cover stuff that happened between Judgement Day and Reese going back, though of course that would leave us (the audience) with no resolution (since we know Skynet is/will-be still around to send back the T-1000). If this movie goes past that part of the timeline, either Reese won't be in the film after a certain point, or they've mangled it.
Right now I just don't know what part/time of the setting this movie is supposed to explore.
