Alright, let's start getting some games going in Fallen Empire Legions!

What do you guys think of this game so far? I heard a little about it on the Podcast and frankly they had me at "Tribes-like". It's also from the Garage Games guys, who are closest to the old-school Dynamix pedigree as they come.

Holy sh*t, they also have Galcon which is possibly one of the most addictive RTS games ever, integrated into Instant Action. Seriously guys, it's like crack in RTS form, each game takes 5 minutes and it's a very simple, addictive game.

Had to go with my real name due to a work obligation... MattPerrin. I'm on very rarely though.
So, has anyone had much luck with the sniper rifle? The aiming seems a bit... odd... and I can't nail anyone with it.

I am signed up on IA but not the Legions beta. I'm a big fan of the Tribes franchise. How Tribeslike is it? Does it have packs and deployables?

It's Tribes simplified, just skiing and shooting. No deployables or packs. At least not yet. It's a fairly limited beta.
And you don't have to sign up, it's an open beta.

Legions game update, they've added "ping" sounds like Tribes, which makes the combat way more fun. Along with low health warning sounds.
And also a menu option to invert the mouse for all of you still stuck in the 90s.

Well I was all excited to see that they were going to get GalCon, as it's one of the most brilliant and addictive strategy games I've played in a long time, and it's finally went live!
Unfortunately you can do a practice level or you have to pay to unlock it for one year
You can also pay like 5-7 cents to play a game, which sounds good except that galcon games (single player at least) do not last more than 5 minutes tops. Usually they last 1 minute.
Sorta sucks I can't just buy it outright like I did the non-instantaction version.
Still you can play a practice level for free and if you're curious I definitely say check it out. Maybe if a few more GWJers want to take the plunge I can see paying to play multiplayer.
