Am I allowed to care about Too Human but not Diablo 3?
Despite Dennis Dyack's claims that his game is beyond being classified as just one genre, I'm thinking that it still looks the most like a dungeon crawling RPG that many would argue was done best by Diablo 2. I am rather looking forward to Too Human and it might even be a day one purchase depending on reviews and, sadly enough, hype. On the other hand I haven't really enjoyed a Diablo game for more than a few hours. Diablo 3 has just recently been announced and I honestly have no true interest in it at all. This seems at odds with the many many people that have been waiting for this sequel for almost 10 years now. So, am I allowed to be so interested in Too Human without having the slightest interest in Diablo 3? Is this blasphemy to turn my back on what will surely be a game that redefines its genre?
As a side note it should be noted that the only other games that I really enjoy and would consider to be in this genre would be the Marvel games (X-Men Legends and Marvel Ultimate Alliance). Also, I really like Blizzard as a developer and Diablo is pretty much their only game that I haven't really enjoyed.

Of course! Everyone have their own preference, the world would be pretty boring if we all liked the same thing!

I would say forget what others may think or not, at the end of the day sir you play these games for enjoyment and you may have different tastes and preferences and that should be more than welcome.
I didn't enjoy the first Diablo, and then played Diablo 2 and I thought that was far far far far far far......several hours later.......far far far better than the first game. We will see what the third brings us and then make judgements.
I must confess, I haven't looked at Too Human, what's the true premise behind the game then?

I'm extremely excited about Too Human. Sometimes I think I must be crazy, that everyone is seeing a different game than me, but frankly I think it's just become trendy to hate on Denis.
That said, I want to make babies with Diablo III.

It's only a month away too! I'm also more excited about this then Diablo 3 as the setting just appeals to me more.

I'm still excited about Too Human, and I've never played a Diablo game. Whether I purchase either of them is still up in the air, but you're not alone in looking forward to Too Human.

Seems like pre-Final build previews have been a mixed bag, but I'm still excited for Too Human. As for Diablo 3, I wish I could play it, but unless it's coming to consoles... it seems like less likely to happen.

I'm really looking forward to the game. This and Fable 2 are what i want a 360 for.

I find Too Human to be far more interesting.
I was concerned about the Diablo 3 story, but having seen gameplay videos for both it seems like my concerns were misplaced. The modern combat system in Too Human is what seems more genre redefining than what appears to be unashamed fan-service in Diablo.
Think a sci-fi hack n slash with a Nordic Mythology theme. Looks super pretty and the combat uses an auto attack scheme that frees you from the basics to unleash hellish combos on your enemies. Kind of an MMO type system.

I couldn't agree more. I'm still planning to grab Too Human on day one both because I love dungeon crawlers and because Silicon Knights has put out some truly stunning games in their past which most Dyack haters conveniently forget. I can't wait to co-op this game. That said, I'm also a huge Diablo fan and will get Diablo III on day one as well. The best way I can describe the play experience of that series is just brilliant simplicity.

Wasn't really following Too Human so I just checked out a few previews...doesn't really grab me I'm afraid.
And a 10 hour long action-rpg?...seems a little slight.
I'll wait for a good mix of proper reviews before making my mind up about it though (or have they said if there be a demo to try?)
You're allowed, but that's just weird, man. Do you work for Dennis Dyack or what?
I mean you're also allowed to like dating a short fat librarian instead of a smart funny supermodel, but, you know.

Anyone get a little bit of a Mass Effect vibe from that preview?
I'm probably looking forward to Too Human more than D3 at the moment, but I suspect that has more to do with the fact that Too Human seems like more of an unknown, while D3 is part of an established franchise.

Have you played Diablo 1 or 2 (without expansions)? They're really only 10-15 hours long straight play... That's not really too different considering the variations in other genres...

Another round of previews are out and some of them are very discouraging. A mod at Eurogamer says it's the worst game he's played in 5 years, IGN has a list of things that need to be fixed for the game to succeed, etc. etc.
I don't put a whole lot of stake (or delicious steak) in previews of alpha and beta builds but it's hard to look at universally negative impressions and take anything good away from it.
Well, maybe one thing: if the game really is so terrible I doubt they'll be making three of them as planned, which means they can start on Eternal Darkness 2!

I'm in the same boat. I watched the GameTrailers 19 minute gameplay walkthrough for Diablo III and quite simply swooned. Unfortunately, I'm not a PC gamer, so unless it comes out on home consoles I'm out of luck.
I've certainly got my eye on Too Human, but previews of the latest build have been pretty tepid at this point, so I'm a bit gun-shy.
Why can't they just release Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 3 already?
I was pretty hyped for Too Human, but this latest batch of previews plus garbage looking footage like this really aren't doing a good job of maintaining said hype.
My days of not taking you seriously have certainly come to a middle.
Whoa!

Haven't played through them properly in a LONG time but I guess that probably sounds about right...I'm probably a little spoiled after the amount of content in Titan Quest and Sacred
Did not like those games at all, though that may just be the PC snob in me breaking to the surface and raging at the mis-use of the Baldur's Gate license while a proper new Baldur's Gate game languished in development hell.
Yeah, I found Champions of Norrath to be a better game, but it might've just been that I liked the art style more.

Yeah, Baldur's Gate PC was full of win.
I still enjoyed the console versions, though. I mean, it's like two completely different genres sharing the same licence. Taken as such, both were great, imo.
They working on it...!

I haven't played sacred but TQ is quite long partially because the whole layout is fixed and so there's no random variation to bring freshness to the game.
I'm the same. I bought Champions for PS2 and found the interface so clunky. It's the reason why i'm looking forward to Too Human. The dual stick control is to console hack and slashers as Geometry Wars is to those little space shooty games....
(I have no idea what the genre is called)

Don't toy with me.
After viewing the new footage on gametrailers I'm officially off the Too Human bandwagon. I had to stop the video 3/4 of the way through, it was so bad it was making me feel uncomfortable :-/

Wasn't there news that they started working on the sequel. It was actually pretty surprising, but a good news none the less. I'll try to dig it up.

The only thing preventing me from getting Too Human day one is the $$$ for an Xbox 360.
If I was single, I'd be completely irresponsible and let my bills slide to purchase said Xbox 360 on TH's launch day.
Alas, I am married and responsible. My stimulus check is going towards a new bed. I'm feeling very old =P
It definitely looks like TH nailed the gameplay that HGL was going for with the hybrid shooter/brawler. At one point in time I thought they were going to do a PC port but that could just be my gamezheimers.
Being fangoriously devoured by a gelatinous monster.
I'm murderously awaiting both of these games, but considering I know my semi-loathing for the Diablo series I am more anticipating Too Human since it's something new and something *hopefully* awesome.
