RIP Don S. Davis

Best remembered among genre fans as portraying Colonel/General Hammond in the Stargate franchise. Even though I wasn't the biggest fan of SG1/Atlantis, he always brought a sense of class and down-to-earth gravity to every episode he was in.

It is a sad day indeed. I truly enjoyed his work in the SG series.

Really sad. Always enjoyed his work

AH! Oh no! Not a huge SG1 fan or anything, but I always enjoyed him in anything I saw him in. Wah.
I always thought his character was a bit underused. I mean, I don't think he ever actually went through the Stargate at all, did he*? They should have sent him out at least once, or at least had an episode center around him.
Regardless, a sad day indeed.
*Correct me if I'm wrong on this, of course. My parents are the ones who've watched every episode multiple times, not I.

He was in failing health for a long time, one of the reasons he left the show. I hope they pay some kind of tribute to him when the new season of Atlantis returns.

My wife and I are currently watching SG-1 for the first time. We're nearing the end of season 6. So this is terribly sad, even more so considering the timing.

He was brilliant in SG. The show wasn't the same without him. Very sad.

Man, this makes me a sad panda
I always really liked his character in the series. RIP, Don. My thoughts are with his family too, in what is undoubtedly a hard time for them.
