Important Announcement, Please Read
KM missed a train and messed up the game for everybody. Take 125 xp if you tried to log on at 8:30 and were unable.
The next game is on Sept 3rd. If you guys try to be there, I'll try to mix up my encounters so we can have a really awesome game that day.

The Story So Far:
A chortling, wealthy merchant hired characters to go and investigate Kalton Manor.
Kalton Manor was inhabited by mercenaries. Records, traps, a ghost, and a trapped creature were found inside.
The Treasure of Kalton Manor ends with more questions than answers.

Stirrings in the Kalton crypt. A missing sepulcher led adventurers to a warehouse owned by a wererat. The wererat, an old associate of Damrosch, has given him the crystal and Damrosch has passed it on and escaped. Letters and info remain.

Letters point different directions - to a dark crystal, given to a green lizardman, to the family of a legislative wererat, to an undead creature skulking in the background, and a wizard's receipt. The wizard's name is Ulghar the Grey, and in return for removing his pest problem, he is building a second dark crystal sensor. It will take a day to build, however, and that is a day for further investigation.

Kelliborn at the merchant guild building is questioned. Trimble and Cywll have a history. Kelson at the Lucky Gnome points to answers in an alley. The alley holds Telric's lieutenant, who wants Guy for her own reasons. She dies and the halfling spills the beans - Trimble, Cywll, and Telric had an arrangement to kill merchants on the Trade Road. Cywll dressed up as Guy and now he's hiding out in Trimble's family's place - does it have anything to do with the old torn-down tenement he used to live in?

Exploring the ruined tenement, the party finds a hive of rats and the entrance to another Kruthik tunnel.

Sign up below, forget the dang email address / google calendar thing.
Fantasy Grounds II, Full or Lite edition (look on the wiki for info on group purchases)
Get my FGII IP address from the wiki campaign page: http://www.gwjrpg.com/pmwiki.php/Main/ShadowsOfWitchlight
Character concept and file can be posted to the wiki here: http://www.gwjrpg.com/pmwiki.php/Main/Characters

We seem to have a compulsion to bury time capsules..... I have placed some large samples of dynamite, gunpowder, and nitroglycerin. My time capsule is set to go off in the year 3000. It will show them what we are really like.

Not really sure who's signed up at the moment. I've invited some people on the calendar but not all have accepted. I'm looking for 4-6 brave souls. See requirements below.

I'd recommend people simply post in this thread saying they want to play, then you add their name to a list in the original post.

Well, that might work too. I guess I'll find out on the 1st if they have the requirements. The reason I liked the calendar is that I want people to be able to sign up for individual sessions. I seem to get a lot of PMs saying folks are free on the 2nd but not the 1st, or the week of the 8th but not next week.

Personally I'd prefer to use both ways.

I don't think that's in any way a bad idea, it's just good for simplicity's sake to keep it here as well. This is a context everyone's already familiar with.

I'd be interested in playing, I can always bite the bullet I guess and go pick up a PHB... I'll play anything, but I prefer rogues as I tend to get a little min/maxish when doing warriors.
edit: I just double checked and for some reason they have me working this Tuesday evening

Since the Tuesday is a char generation/tools primer, I'd be willing to go through these processes with you and anyone else not able to make Tuesday so long as that's alright with KingMob and it's understood that I'm not perfect with the tools and have plenty of questions about char generation myself. I know fogrob was wanting to do something later tonight.

Really I'm willing to do almost anything at this point to get people playing so we can stop talking about it and actually get something fun under our belts.

Looks like things are in good shape here! Bonus points to KingMob for getting this up and running. DMs are really the drivers in all of this and you are to be commended. *cheers*

I'll not be able to make it Tuesday, I'm downloading the Lite version of Fantasy Grounds on my own and gettin Ventrillo up and running.

I had a bad go at it last time I tried to use Ventrilo. I'll be on tonight trying to get it working. PM me if you're interested in playing with FG or Ventrilo tonight, Sunday 6/29, anytime after 7 cst.

I'm such a newb on Ventrilo I'm probably a liability. As soon as I can get PTT to work w/out the feedback I got last time I'll be a happier person in general. So, I'm definitely not the one to set the room up.

Just purchased and downloaded the FG Lite version. Is there an update or patch required for this game or just the stock FG as downloaded from their site?

I'd like to sign up but, sadly, 8pm EST is too early for me, that's 5pm my time and I'll still be at work. If you need help testing things, I can hop on sometime between 9 and 9:30 EST but can't commit to the campaign.

This is going to majorly suck but I think my first official session is going to have to be on July 9th. I have a major event taking place on Thursday and between now and then I have to study study study every free chance I get. I might try and jump into tomorrow night's test run just to see how it goes but otherwise I have to be knee-deep in C# this week.

I need you to join us on the 1st or the 8th at some point so you can get your character set up in FGII.
It takes about ten minutes for the info from my rule presets to slowly trickle to your computer, and then you have to retype your character into the FGII format... it's no picnic. I'm considering some way to entertain people over vent while we wait for the tool...

Anyway, it would be really good if you could get set up with us on the 1st or 8th, don't have to log in exactly at 8pm or anything, you can stay just long enough to get the tool running. This goes for everybody who'd like to play on the 2nd or 9th, of course.

I'll be in for the 8th and 9th. I will be bringing Gerund Seramnold, a Human Wizard (background to come), unless the party needs a healer or tank, in which case I'm happy to switch. I'll also, perhaps, lurk on the 1st, though I won't have access to FG2.

Sorry if this is obvious and I'm being dense, but right now the 8th, 9th, and 10th are "reruns" of the 1st-3rd?

I'm going to try to make this week, playing Kavan, but I still can't commit absolutely for the 1st yet so if my ambiguity causes problems I'll wait for the next train.

Also when you ask what character we're playing, is that in case we make multiple characters? Or are we going with the "library of characters" approach? I thought (and am hoping) that we decided on the individually-owned characters.

I know I accepted the Google Calendar invite so hopefully I'm still "In".

I have to get a headset for Vent this evening.

Im setting up a Paypal account as we speak so I can pay the man his hard earned monies for the FG DM License he so kindly sent me this weekend.

I'll be bringing Tsurras Wyrmblood, Dragonborn Paladin of Avendra and his trusty blade Punchline. Err...Rather, I guess I'll be RE-making him. I made him once but accidently deleted the character sheet so I will have to remake him.

If there is a conflict with Tsurras and Sithis (it doesnt seem like we'll be in the same campaign, but just in case) I can roll up my Fire and Brimstone Priest or my seemingly Narcoleptic Thuggish Rogue. But as of right now, Im all about Big T-Nasty.

I if I go to roll up a character we using straight rolling rules, or some varient? (i.e. what you roll you enter in the chart as you go, or 6x3d6 pick which stat gets which roll, or 4d6 drop the lowest or 3d6 reroll any 1s etc...)

Yeah, right now. Unless we have mighty troubles this week in which case we push this to the next week.
So in order to make this super-effectively-complicated, here are the possibilities:
A) Not enough players / people set up this week: All dates this week get pushed one week in the future.
B) We have a great time on the 2nd but don't finish: Finish on the 3rd. IF don't finish then: on the 9th.
C) We have a great time on the 2nd and finish: Maybe I run again next week, maybe somebody else steps up to run it for me, I don't care, either is fine.

LiquidMantis wrote:

Your ambiguity causes pains in my heart, also my tukus. Look it up! Learn a new word every day.
I know you and the other balkers can log on to FGII some time between 8 and 10 pm for a few minutes to start the interminable process of loading my rulesets, etc. Otherwise maybe I can get my computer on at 6:45pm so people can try to log on then on the 2nd, but I just KNOW we'll be delayed that day.
Short answer - if you really can't make it on the 1st, send me a PM or something and I'll let you know if there's room for you character-wise. Obviously I'd like to give people who show up on the 1st precedence on the 2nd, and I'll go up to 6 players but not to 7.

LiquidMantis wrote:

I would be open to people playing different characters based on what the group needs. I'd also be open to people declaring "this is my character, don't mess with it!" But mainly I want to hear what character you're playing in order to help some people reach a decision, so people see how the group is shaping up.

Sorry to perpetuate that group, but we really did have some useful discussions there and not all of them are copied here or to the wiki yet.

Basically it's use Method 1 or 2 from page 17 of the PHB. I can put more detailed info into the wiki too if you're still waiting for your PHB.

I checked the FG forums and apparently there's an issue where certain systems have trouble with the QoS packet scheduler when running FG, causing these horrendously slow speeds. I disabled it but haven't checked again to see if it works or not.
