GWJ website's comments and their lack of headers

Since this looks a lot like a Drupal site, I'll suppose it is a Drupal site. Ignore me if I'm wrong.
I've set one up from time to time, and despite looking for the perfect theme, mod or plain configuration option, I have not found a way to prevent comments on posts, articles, etc from showing a supersized "header" which shows either the comment subject, or in its absence, just the first few words of the comment.
I see that GWJ is blessedly free from this feature. How did you do it? Theme? Mod? Configuration? Hack?

This is kind of what it'd look like if
This is kind of what it'd look like if GWJ site did the header that I also want to remove. Naturally I faked it here - I added it with bbcode-flavored text.

I have a feeling that a particular man of legend removed the headers because the admins feel that they serve no purpose or something like that, eh?
See "header" for details.
In Ultima Online I used to poison hams and leave them on the ground in cities for people to pick up and eat. I can't believe how many people thought street ham was a good thing to eat. -Elliottx
