I pulled this from the main forums. It's yet another of those ideas that makes you say WTF?

Jayde post: http://forums-eu.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?p=446303

Cut and past quote from Jayde:

"As this seems to be a running theory, I figured I would post to clarify.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Demonologist (or Necromancer) magic ratings. You will notice that the buff from either of the specialized fire/electrical/unholy/cold buffs added to your base magic rating will equal your resist rating, or any other "target" rating for your level.

For instance, the target at level 80 is 317 ratings, which is achieved with the base value + the buff value from either school rating buffs. (Obviously, if you have Archmage, the buff will also apply to both schools instead of just one.)

So, in the end, it is Magic Rating + Specialized Magic Rating vs. Resist Rating for the purposes of combat calculations.

Additionally, no stats were intended to apply to magic (or attack) ratings, and this was simply an error in the tooltip text until it was corrected last week. Intelligence increases magic damage dealt, not magic rating.

Fruthermore, Magic, Attack, Defense, and Resist ratings do not apply in PvP at all, to provide a more even playing field for all players of all level ranges.

So if Magic, Attack, Defense, and Resist ratings do not apply in PvP then we can essentially fight naked and it won't matter? I just don't get it??

So you are best collecting gear that gives you + STA, + HPs, and Evade

It would appear so! As with that "other" MMO stamina will always be huge in PvP. It also explains why some people have been claiming that stats don't work....especially when they test them against other people on a PvP server.

I have to say I almost like this, no longer will the basemen dwellers dominate pvp because they have spent X hours living in the newest latest raid dungeon.

Gear advantage largely has been nullified in PVP. Leaving it up to one's own reaction and timing; dare I say skill?

Don't forget about invulnerability ratings. Those work too.

If you read carefully, they said that stats DO give you benefits. Just not the kind that people thought they gave. +Int gives you +damage to your spells. Not +tohit. And then they proceeded to say that +tohit doesn't count in PvP. Everybody has the same tohit ratings, no matter their level. In other words, the only thing that differentiates people in pvp is how much damage they can do (and I suppose how much hp they have). So, if you stack up on +int, you'll be a damage dealing monster mage (or maybe not--as I have no idea how much +damage +int gear gives you).

Basically, they made it so that 3-5 level 60s can take down a level 80, without their spells missing due to level differences and +tohit penalties. It's purely a fight between a level 80 hp pool and damage output, and several level 60 hp pools and damage outputs.

We proved this last night.

We had 2 66's 1 67 1 lvl 65 1 50 and we were smoking 3 80s and a 49. the 4th 80 is what drove us out.

i'm still not convinced. +dex is supposed to increase your ranged damage.

I can strip naked and do the same amount of damage without my +dex gear.
