As I'm sure we all know, Treyarch is in charge of developing the 5th installment in the mostly entertaining COD series. After the excellence that was COD4, I know we're all reluctant to go back to the days of WW2, but I haven't lost hope. I'm going to give Treyarch the benefit of the doubt on this one, only because the trailer looks nice. Only time will tell.
Edit: For those who are unaware, COD5 is set in the pacific instead of the usual European Theatre of war.

I haven't been a big fan of the non-Infinity Ward COD releases, and Treyarch's resume is pretty unimpressive. I'm mostly concerned about level design and attention to detail/quality.
I have to admit that the Pacific theater setting does have me a bit intrigued, though.

well if it has to be a WW2 game...at least it isnt germans, this time it is the japs
I support the second amendment
Did anyone else see them talking about this on that streaming XBox News thing recently? I noticed, throughout, that they were tellingly dropping the number, referring to it only as Call of Duty: World at War.
I don't know if it's telling, permanent, or just some sort of vague compromise in the Infinty Ward/Treyarch thing, but it makes a body wonder.

True, although I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one if only because it's the first game they've ever made where they had more than a year of development time and a decent budget to work with.

I will give this game a chance. The trailer looks promising and, if nothing else, it has a flamethrower which is enough for me to buy it.
So hell did freeze over after all; Welcome to Skjold!
Who needs COD5 for that. We'll be able to do it in Gears of War 2 (SP and MP).
Lag used to be a lot worse back in the day. Hell, it took Jesus 3 days to respawn.

/nod I'm hoping to see something from them this time. I think they know it too. They have a lot of people looking to see what they can do in comparison to IW. Must be a hard thing having CoD4 hanging over your head like that.
I don't know about the Pacific theater though. Somehow that really doesn't get me going like Europe would. Only so much you can do there. Jungles, well they all sort of look the same. Island hopping is a repetitive thing in and of itself. I'm interested to see what they are going to do to keep the levels fresh.

If there was a GH:Metallica, I wonder if you would have to play at the expert level at the start then work your way through the years to the easy mode - just like the real band did!
And Far Cry 2. Flamethrowers are back in a big way this year.

Since COD4 has been out for a while, I would hope Treyarch has a grasp on what the fans want. It's not like COD3 was terrible, it just wasn't up the standard we're used to from IW.
Wow. I didn't realize the vast amount of lighting-guys-on-fire options I'm going to have! This fall is going to be great!

TF2 is now the ultimate lighting-guys-on-fire game. Most matches have half the people playing pyros.

It has a good atmosphere, of course that's not what makes the entire game.
