WoW: Summer Festival

The Midsummer Fire Festival starts this Saturday! With all holiday quests, you'll be able to do dailies to get silly hats and the like. The "boss" of this summer is Lord Ahune. He's found in Slave Pens and drops epic cloaks similar to badge loot cloaks.

I so want to do this, and if I can convince the wife to log in, she needs Slave Pens regular, anyway!

Ahune also drops a decent staff (If any warlocks miss their scythe from lvl 55 ish, prepare for awesomeness) and a freaking ADORABLE little pet fire elemental.
I'd love to get in on this! I've been awaiting these seasonal bosses, can't wait for the Headless Horseman, too.

Huh... That staff would be a nice upgrade for Thadryn. I dunno if he's got the stats/gear (~+500 dmg, ~120/mp5 while casting /w mage armor)for a heroic run of Slave Pens. Maybe I'll log in and see how it goes?

Man, playing on a PvP server makes this festival something quite hectic. I have only been playing since march or so and am working on an alliance paladin dranai who's only at lvl 24 and I'm getting slaughtered.
A question for those more familiar with the game: does this eventually wear off after the initial excitement weekend wears off, or will I keep getting slain these next couple of weeks constantly?

Hi,as a 70 Alliance human paladin(and ret,i might add) I can tell you that the Horde hates paladins in particular and my guess is that they will kill you any chance they get on a pvp server.And until you get more dangerous to them youre kind of out of luck til 70.You could create a "bubble-hearth" macro to get away from them-they hate that as well.Good luck.
I ended up hitting all the bonfires in the Eastern Kingdoms and all but two in Kalimdor. After all that, plus a couple torch tossing and a torch catching, I had enough burning blossoms to get the Captured Flame item.
I also stole Undercity's flame!
