I'd say this endorsement is still relevant to the core Democrat base.
It would be much more hugely relevant if this endorsement happened earlier, in the course of the primaries. But understandably, he had to keep the appearance of parity.

It wasn't the real Nixon but yeah he was. Even was voted in as President of Earth. I think the idea is that Gore played himself in several episodes and the movie.

Gore did play himself, and was a good sport about the script that highlighted his boring vocal style and the I-invented-the-internet meme. I have more respect for him doing that than most of his other PR moves, but then I'm from a city where people still sport Kucinich bumper stickers so I have some serious lefty fatigue.
