My wife's second Ironman, some fun pics, maybe some inspiration

Sorry for the bit of navel gazing here, but I was trying to find a picture of my bike to illustrate a point in the "Biking to work?" thread. As I was doing this I stumbled on a picture from my wife's first ever triathlon. I couldn't resist posting something. She's getting ready to do her second Ironman. I, of course, couldn't be prouder. As we get closer (it's next Sunday) I get more and more excited for her, because it's what she loves. And I think that's what love is about sometimes. I struggled at times with my feeling like I wasn't as accomplished or as good as her because I hadn't done similar things. I've worked through it long since and now all I feel is absurd amounts of pride and a little hope/prayer that her day goes well and she gets to enjoy what she loves.

Anyway, the picture that prompted me to even think of this.

And then her from the finish last year.

Anyway, as of a couple weeks ago she's down 180+ lbs. She weighs half of where she started. She has 19% body fat officially (she has strange connections and can get stuff like that checked if she wishes, don't ask me how or what mine is) and is in even better shape than last year. Hopefully someone finds this inspirational and please wish her luck for a fun day.

You can get a pretty close body fat % doing sub scapular and belly density tests.
We had to do them for wrestling along with hydration tests once in the season to establish a healthy weight for you not to go under. That weight being 8% body fat.

Good luck, speed! You're going to do fantastic, because after all, you've already finished one, right?

Give us an update afterward (or please post a link to her post-race blog again, DS; it was so inspiring to read!)

Thanks guys. She doesn't blog much any more. She mostly keeps up with stuff on BeginnerTriathlete (ironic name) which she uses to track her food intake and follow a training regimen online.

Here's her blog all the same.

http://speedleopard.blogspot.com/

These days she blogs mostly in her training logs.

There's a lot to dig through there, but they contain some fun nuggets of humor/wisdom. Along with a kind of fun idea of what my wife actually does for training.

Thanks. Two days until the Race. Or something like 32 hours. Here is the tracker info if anyone is curious again.

If you're interested in tracking my progress on Sunday here's what you need to know:

www.ironmanlive.com

Look for the Track An Athlete link for Ironman Coeur d'Alene.

My athlete # is 1861

The race starts at 7am Pacific Time and I will be swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles and then running a full marathon (26.2 miles) and again hopefully finishing before the midnight cut-off. There's a live video link to the finish line so for those of you interested in staying up late I hope to finish sometime between 10pm and midnight.
