To spot that, someone has spent FAR too much time on Oblivion! The similarity is a bit to uncanny to be uncanny though.

No, I would've noticed several of those right off, and I haven't spent too much time on Oblivion.

Agreed... That's just incredible. It's like you couldn't make it closer if you tried.

Maybe it's an adventure about minds of people who spent too much time in Oblivion. The name Limbo of the Lost certainly supports such claim

This must be a game where you play a virtual avatar, who is playing a character in Oblivion.

The only thing thats going to be Lost in Limbo, is any money they had hoped to make off this game by stealing another companie's work. I wonder if they developed it in the TES Construction Toolset.

Yeah, me too.

One incident might have led to a double-take and a "hmm... naah".

But if I was seeing a number of those copied rooms, it wouldn't have taken me long to clue in.

That is hilarious, thanks for sharing it. Yeah, just like that. Except their budget didnt allow for rendering the virtual avatar at his virtual computer, nor did they find 'public domain' art assets.

Wow, yeah... Well maybe this game takes place in Tamriel. And they had permission to use the exact same world... I doubt it. But I suppose it's a possibility, since its not the same genre...

Seriously. Look at the fourth set of images; not only do they have shelves in the same positions, the shelves have the exact same objects in the exact same arrangement.

Someone didn't want to do their own renderer and just copied the images from Oblivion. Bethesda has a very clear case I would say.

They even have the painting of the vampire count from Skingrad. Jesus, who makes these decisions. Did they really think no one would have played Oblivion.

If you had not told me that was a different game I would have thought those were Oblivion screenshots.

Too much time playing Oblivion my delicate posterior! That damn coat of arms is practically in every house in the game!

its obviously a copy but I wonder if it is actually a copyright violation to copy rooms from other games. I know it's a violation to pirate the same files, but what if they just took pictures of oblivion and recreated the rooms in their game?

When Resistance came out, Sony got in trouble for re-creating a famous church in England, but they didn't break any laws. I don't see copying a level as any worse than copying a landmark as long as you do it from scratch and don't steal another companies assests.

The problem is those textures are identical.

That would be a pretty depressing conclusion to the story. This game has literally been in development for nearly a decade.

I'm nearly certain that Zenimax will bring legal action, it is a company quick to bring legal action (or at least the threat of it) against people or organizations. Some other things to note with all this:

The official Limbo of the Lost website is hosted on Geocities of all things (and went down minutes after the story broke).

They also didn't just copy from Oblivion, there are bits of stolen art from Thief: Deadly Shadows and Diablo 2, I would guess from other games as well:

They can kiss there game goodbye, that's for sure. Funny how someone at some time thought it would be a good idea to copy stuff out from other games and use it in their own game.

Somewhere along the line someone said, "Aaah, it'll be ok. They'll never notice."

Over here in the UK a directory service called 118 118 ran an add campaign showing two runners with big moustaches. A retired athlete sued them for stealing his image. I can't see the resemblance myself:

I doubt it. We're programmed to recognize places we've been before, even if we weren't paying a lot of attention to detail at the time.

From watching the trailer, it shows. You could have shown me this video 5 years ago, and I wouldn't have believed this was developed after 2000.

Almost every forum has people noticing new "influences". This looks to be the most innovative adventure game in years, breaking the fourth wall like no title before it.

You got to give them credit for their huge balls. Picking very mainstream games instead of obscure ones, doing almost nothing to hide their origins, it's pretty astounding they ever assumed they would get away with it.

A good wrap-up of the whole history is available at RPS., including some choice quotes by the developers that in hindsight are full of hilarity.
