Good iPod remote control/dock?
Wednesday, June 11th, 2008 - 9:33am
Does anyone have one of these? A dock for an iPod where we can do the following...
- Charge the iPod while we play it through our stereo system
- Allow us to remote control the iPod (switch it to shuffle, move ahead a playlist, etc.) while we lounge around
Just curious if anyone has such a beast and which one they like.

I have something that's not exactly that, but which I love:
JBL on-stage
It does have a (limited) remote; most of all, the sound is just unbelievably good for something of this size and price.

I have been very pleased with iHome. I have the alarm clock dock and the table dock for the kitchem/bathroom.
They support most models, but I am not sure about nono phats or Touch models.
Another great method is to just get a headphone to RCA Y chord and plug into a stereo/receiver. If you already have a stereo or receiver supporting these, it is a great solution.
Since this thread is more appropriate..
Anyone have any suggestions on a good case for an Ipod Classic? Something that has a belt/hip clasp and isn't a cheap POS?

Nice, thanks.

The biggest problem I'm seeing with these docks is a distinct lack of control. I would take a dock where the remote control would just let me un-shuffle.
So say I'll, listening to my collection on shuffle. "Hey, I forgot about this album and would love to listen to it. Unshuffle. Yay!"
As far as I can tell this can't be done without physically touching the iPod. At that point I may as well just play music via my 360/TV instead of the Bose dock I bought. I'd have more control.
