Monsters' Den: Book of Dread
In Monsters' Den: Book of Dread you lead a familiar band of characters - Warrior, Cleric, Mage and Ranger - as they traipse through a random 2-D creature-infested labyrinth looting, pillaging, and leveling as RPG heroes are wont to do.
If there's anything surprising about Book of Dread, it's how even the simplest and most conventional RPG elements can still suck you in, provided that they're this thoughtfully implemented. Combat is fast, no-fuss, and turn-based, occurring on a simple tactical grid that has you positioning party members according to their strengths and abilities. A friendly series of pop-up tutorials, a slick drag-and-drop tabbed interface, high production values, multiple save slots, and an impressive amount of depth and variety make Book of Dread an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a fun, nostalgic RPG time-waster. DAMN YOU AND YOUR ADDICTING FLASH GAMES!!! *raises fist to the heavens*
Kongregate is just heaven for Flash junkies. I hope their business model works, and their CCG is moderately intriguing, though I think it's still months from launching.
It's not enough to bash in heads, you've got to bash in minds.
Glad I didn't open that at work. There went three hours of my night.

Yeah, mine too. Great game, seems like a good way to waste some time, especially with the ability to go back and change difficulty settings and party composition.
Thanks for the link. It made me late for work this morning.

Wow! Very very well done. I burned about 3 hours on this as well when I could have been playing TF2.

I played the original version on Kongregate, and I've been playing this version since it was posted. Its great for work, I'll play a fight or two while somebody is droning on and on in some conference call. I just keep it up in a browser tab all thru the day.
tip: Once you have the fight down to one enemy, use Nature's Balm on your front line then everybody repeatedly pass until you are fully healed and mana'd up. Saves on those between fight potions.
This game is so addicting. I love it.
BTW, does anyone know how to sell items? Is it an option or do you find a vendor later?

If you use the portal scroll it will transport you to a store, then back to your original location. They show up occasionally as loot.
Wow, this game is amazing. My morning is gone.

This game highly addictive and a ton of fun. There are also Barbarian and Rogue classes to choose from. I really like the recommendation feature for assigning equipment to your party members.

This was brilliant and has eaten a large portion of my life. Thank You

I played almost this entire game one day during the early part of last semester when I was very, very sick. It kept me entertained.
Yet even then we ran like the wind,
whilst our laughter echoed under cerulean skies...
