Witchblade the movie

Looks like they're making this into a movie.
While the story was so-so, and he really pushed the big boob boom comics took for awhile, it was still a break through for Mike Turner who i went to highschool with. Like seeing people i know do well.

Ugh.
I remember when I first heard about the comic. I glanced at it in a comic shop, and was interested. The Oogaba helped a great deal. So I saved up, and bought Vol. 1-3.
And I hated it. I mean hated it. I mean an actual, visceral kind of dislike I hadn't felt in ages. White, blinding hate. I keep the books around though, as an example of what not to do.
Good for your friend though.

Wasn't this a really bad tv show at one point?
There is only an up or down--up to a man's age-old dream, the ultimate in individual freedom consistent with law and order--or down to the ant heap totalitarianism,... those who would trade our freedom for security have embarked on this downward course.
I bought it for the art. Michael Turner is an exceptional comic book artist, in my mind. But like a lot of comics I got for the art, the writing and story didn't quit keep up.

What does Witchblade do, exactly?
Certis beat me to it. - Elysium
Aside from making comic book chicks look insanely hot? It's a mystery to us all.

Yes, it was once a genuinely terrible TV show.

What's not to like?
[edit] I know you didn't ask that... but i figured the quote answered your question and the comment was my own thoughts on the issue

So it imparts the valuable lesson that jewelry can make your clothes dissapear. Alcohol can do that too but I don't think there's a comic book devoted to that yet---actually I believe that may be the plot of those Girls Gone Wild videos I see advertised on late night tv.

It was an excuse for Turner to draw hot chicks with very little clothes and I was totally on board with that.

I'm not a big comic book geek (i own a couple of compilations, randomly) but i think there was a comic series about teenage super-powered individuals that centred on the premise that raging hormonal, moody adolescents would basically devolve into ludicrously self-indulgent booze and sleaze fests. I can't remember the title of it though.... The New somethings?
Someone here will probably know

I like women as much as the next straight guy, or lesbian. But in my old age(past 12-16) mere titillation from scantily or non-clad women is not enough to draw money from my pocket or precious time from my life.
What does Witchblade offer above this? Will it at least be at a level similar to the AMAZING Heavy Metal movie(original)?
It's been years since I've bought an issue of Witchblade.
And I've never understand the praise of the Heavy Metal movie. Ugh.

YOU HAVE NO IDEA THE POWER OF THE AWESOME BEWBAGE.
Heavy Metal is, at least to me, gleefully MST3K. It's so awful it's hilarious.

I remember back when I was still a comic book geek (I have the first ever issue of Sgt. Rock in near mint condition. I jokingly call it my retirement fund) they did a crossover with Witchblade and Tomb Raider.
I don't think they could have crammed more towering bewbage into that miniseries without involving Pamela Anderson.

You just described about 3 dozen comics!
For reasons that now escape me, I bought the Witchblade Compendium, which collected the first 50 issues. While he lavished attention on the main character and her oogaba, every, and I mean every, male character looked exactly the same. This made following the plot next to impossible.
The TV show was truly atrocious. About the only thing that the comic had going for it was an impossibly hot female lead, but they cast an ugly stocky actress. Very odd.
Requires 2 non-replaceable LR41 button cell batteries for the monkey (included)
Actually the SHOW wasn't bad. The ACTRESS (using term loosely) was.
I think her name was Yancy Butler.
It was not award winning by any means but it was better than a lot of other trash that was on around the same time.
This is totally 100% true.
