DS: God Help Me, I'm Playing DRONE TACTICS

I've been jonesing for a new tactics game lately, and despite the 75% average review scores on the old MC, I went and picked this up.
Long story short-- the plot is ridiculous, but hell... giant robot bugs blowing each other to pieces. The map-screen graphics are about par with the Advance Wars games, although the upper screen shows the bug mechs in all their 3D, customized glory.
There's a Jeanne D'Arc style element where you can take existing items (cards here, with different effects) and "blend" them to create new items.
I'm enjoying myself so far, although the first boss mech cleaned my clock last night.

Why are there no good DS tactical games that aren't all japaney? Or heck forget good, are there any period?
I have longed for Starcraft on the DS. Am I the only one that makes sense to?

I'm really hanging for Civilization Revolution -- knowing that I used to play Civ I on an Amiga with 1MB of RAM gives me great hope that DS CivRev is going to be the real deal, and not some shallow, gimped experience. I'm not really opposed to Japanese goofiness in and of itself though, so I'm perhaps even more excited for FFTA2, especially after pumping 120+ hours in to FFTA on my GBA.

I believe they've come out with at least one of the Front Mission games on the DS. It's mechs but it has very deep customization options and while being anime influenced, it seemed much more down to earth than the usual Japanese sillyness. No giant mechanical bugs at least.
