The REAL Reason Hillary's losing: she's not, it's a cover-up!
Tuesday, May 27th, 2008 - 11:03am
So it looks like Bill's saying that Hillary is in fact winning, but there's a massive conspiracy to conceal that "fact." No names are named, of course (or if they were, then THEY made sure they weren't reported).
NOTE: This is not a doodle bug.

So it's a vast what-wing conspiracy?

So, she is winning if you take the caucus states and the votes from them out of the equation, and if you count Michigan and Florida, and you give Obama zero votes for Michigan. Ok sure Bill lets not let a few states get in the way of your wife's political victory.

.... sure, you may not like her policies... but she could win! And you wanna pick a winner, right? You don't wanna gamble, do ya son. No. Not with something as important as your vote! You wanna back a horse that can run the whole race! Ooops! Did I say race? Listen, come here, have you been working out? Let me lay this on the line for you: I've got numbers. Numbers that say she's a shoo-in! No really! Here... Polls! Yeah. See? Look at those numbers. See that? That column there. Yeah, now look over here. Why didn't you know that before? Huh? Who's keeping these numbers from you? So you see now? You don't wanna throw your vote against THAT brick wall, do ya? Listen here, these numbers are never wrong. Point is... She can win! And you want to win. We like winners! Just think what'll happen if you pick wrong again. Remember Dean? Yearrhoo indeed! And now he wants to tell you where to throw your vote? So forget about the policies, forget about the tactics. You know what she's willing to do, who she's willing to step over to get the job done. Ruthless like... you ever see 24? Yeah. She'll kneecap that sucker and get us the big W. The big "W" is what we want in the White House. Right? Yeah. Hill on the Hill. Hmm... sounds like a video I saw back when I was a governor. Hmmmm... listen hun, once this is all over how 'bout you and m.... Yes dear? Oh yeah, ehem... So, Support Hillary.
It feels like a Monday.

Anyone else picturing a sitcom with Bill sneaking around Hillary's back, getting into all kinds of humourous situations? He just needs Al Gore to accompany him on his wacky adventures. This would be the second season though. The first would be and the whole impeachment fiasco.

I could've sworn that I went into some little elementary school and stood for an hour and a half in a cafeteria so I could vote for Obama but according to the Clintons, that never took place. My vote for Obama doesn't count in the popular vote because I loved my country enough to waste my Saturday afternoon in a cramped little corner of the room.
I think saying that I didn't vote is a cover-up.

Wouldn't it be awesome if Hillary ends up sueing DNC and seeks injunction on Obama accepting the nomination? The situation begins to looks as if it would make a perfect Supreme Court material!

Or you could be misconstruing the statement. If you bother to actually read or watch what he said, he said that Hillary wins the general and Barrack doesn't, and that the Obama campaign is trying to under-publicize that. While it's debatable whether or not this is true, it's significantly less paranoid and deranged than you make it out to be.

There's really not much of a debate. Hillary only wins the general under a particular set of rules invented by the Clintons. It's not insane and paranoid, but it is definitely slimy and disingenuous.

Ummm...no. Have a look at at the most recent polling data. Clinton and Obama do about evenly in national polls, and if you go to the state by state breakdowns, she is more likely to win significant swing states such as Ohio and Florida.
Granted, she only gets to run in the general under a particular set of rules invented by the Clintons. But that's not what was being talked about.

Ah, I guess I thought he was talking about the Clintons' bullsh*t contention that Hillary will be ahead in the popular vote at the end of the Democratic primaries, which he addressed in the same talk:
If he's talking about national polling, it's even sillier, if a bit less dishonest. Polling in May has little or nothing to do with the general election in November. And despite what Bill might claim, there's no way Hillary honestly wins the popular vote in the primaries. So, ummm...yeah. It's slimy and disingenuous.

" 'Oh, this is so terrible: The people they want her. Oh, this is so terrible: She is winning the general election, and he is not. Oh my goodness, we have to cover this up.' "
So where's is evidence of Obama's campaign trying to cover it up? What exactly does a "cover up" of a national poll released by a major magazine look like? Isn't "cover up" the kind of term meant to evoke a negative response from a democratic audience?
Ok. I think I see the misunderstanding. Bill Clinton says two things. About the general he says that she wins and he doesn't, which is neither slimy nor particularly disingenuous and which I'm objecting to being construed as such. I assumed that this is what the thread was about, since that's what the cover-up part was about.
He also makes the
statement, which could technically be true, if you follow Clinton math and count Florida (somewhat reasonable) and Michigan (completely unreasonable) and don't bother to try to estimate the caucus versus primary difference. I'll agree that this is disingenuous and while I wouldn't characterize it as slimy, won't be overly concerned if you do.

Now they're talking about possibly using Michigan and Florida.

The only possible deal that can happen would be one that satisfies NOONE -- neither voters in Florida & Michigan, nor their DNC delegations, nor the rest of the states that abided by the schedule, nor Obama campaign, nor, of course, Hillary, because it will STILL fall short of giving her an advantage.

There has been talk of a 60-40 or something close to that compromise, but I don't think the Clinton camp will go along with anything but a total victory in Michigan. If the Democratic party does this then forget anyone listening to them about anything for now on.

It's pretty easy for Clinton to get a total victory in Michigan since Obama wasn't even listed on the ballot. Certainly makes Hillary's "Count Every Vote" slogan ring a bit hollow when Obama supports weren't even given the option to vote for him.
The only way this could have worked is if both states voted again and attempts to do so failed.
Michigan voters need to turn their anger to the state for moving their primary up in some crazy attempt to become more, I don't know, like Iowa. Florida voters, well, I completely gave up on you two elections ago.
Failed within the states themselves. Serves them right, I say, to discard the results of their unsanctioned voting.
Xbox Live tag Gorilla800lbs
I believe around 40% of Michigan voters voted "Uncommitted" in the primary to signify either their support for Obama, Edwards, Richardson, or Biden, who were all not on the ballot. Or they could have been voicing their lack of support for anyone on the slate. Not exactly a slam dunk win for the Popular Vote when half of the primary candidates aren't even on the ballot.
