Explore your music genre with pandora.com

A friend of mine introduced me to this awesome site. What it does is you type in your favorite artist and it creates some sort of algorithm that find other songs and artists similar to your favorite artist.
You then either give it a thumbs up or down and it will adjust accordingly. It is a great and addictive site to maybe find new music out there.
Enjoy!

Personally, I don't understand why TempestBlayze is so well-liked. He shoots people. In the head. A lot.

As much as I love Pandora (I listen to it probably every day), why do I feel like this email is spam? Sorry if it isn't, but still...
Also, if you like Pandora, try OpenPandora!
If it has a spaceship in it, I'll play it. - http://www.spacegamejunkie.com/
Haha it does sound like spam. Just click the link. I promise it's not for male enhancement.

I listen to it quite a bit. My only complaint is that it gets pretty repetitive... it tends to play the same songs over and over, especially if you say you like a particular song. While I don't mind listening to a song I like a lot, I do wish there would be a bit more variety.
You can change the artist seeds to mix it up a bit, but I've found a stream where I like 95% of the stuff played, I just wish there was more of it.

I'm in the same boat as Koz. I feel that you do get the same stuff coming up quite a bit. However, I have found some great new artists, and always keep coming back. It is nice to be able to just select a type of music i'm into without having to deal with the crappy job I have done at categorizing my music in itunes via genre tags.

What the hell?!? Since when has Pandora been US only? GodDAMN I hate location-based browsing. What the hell is the point of the bloody Internet if you can't connect to things? BLARGH!!!

I agree. There should be something in the URL to let you know it's location restricted.

Depending on how scrupulous (?) you're feeling, you only have to say you're in the US... Someone I... err... know in the UK has an account with a fake zip code plugged in there and it works just fine.

No, they block on your IP address. That he can use it in the UK is likely related to it actually being available there until earlier this year.

I am scrupulousless when it comes to this sh*t. I'm happy to proxy it, or spoof it, or fake it however I need to as long as I gets me my stuff.
On a totally unrelated note, anybody got any thoughts as to how I might go about tricking a website/service about where I am or what my IP is?

Now that I once again have the internets at home, I've rediscovered my love of Pandora. And there's a handy new plugin called Harmony that works with Firefox and will scrobble your Pandora to Last.fm pretty painlessly. Just don't run Flashblock, that seems to kill it.
Now if they make a Vista MCE plugin, then I'll really be digging it.
"YOU SPOIL, YOU GET SPOILED! AAAAHAHAHAHAHA!"
unntrlaffinity, got a link to that Harmony plugin? Me love you long time.

I just downloaded the iPhone Pandora client. I can't believe it took me this long to discover it. This is awesome!

I have been using Pandora for over a year now. One thing it was lacking when I started using it was a lack of genres. I'm always attached to comedy music, such as songs from Jonathan Coulton or Stephen Lynch. Pandora used to look at the qualities of a song, but never the genre. It is in fact a good thing, as I've crossed a few genres I never would have because some songs are just really good.
Sometime in the last year, Pandora has grown intelligent. They have every artist I know of for weird/funny songs, and they recognize that they are all related. Just in the last week, Pandora introduced me to bands like Tripod. Their song "I'm Gonna Make You Happy Tonight" has been elected by my wife as the new "our song."
They have songs from South Park (artist: Trey Parker), stand-up comedian songs , broadway shows like The Producers or Avenue Q, they even had Hans Zimmer's version of "Spider Pig."
Anyway, I was very happy to discover this myself and didn't want anyone else missing out!
When my son was born and I saw his beautiful face, I was so happy that it wasn't made with Bioware's character creator.
